@woodlandwuguiАй бұрын
ahhhh i just loooked up those gloves, they look decent and probably can still actually feel the controls haha. I have some wooly gloves that are windproof i like to use, but i didn't bring them this week. Having said that in those i get hot unless its truly -5 or so. That all said, we dont really get to ride much in this colder weather so probably not the best investment unless i decide to get a snowmobile....

Sorry I missed the ride. I was hoping to come out with the Steel City guys My son had been away for a couple of weeks and had some adventures (like having a passport stolen hours before his flight back!) so I stayed home to spend time with him Looks like a fun, if challenging, day! Still need to get you out to our 6 hour next year. 78% fewer bumps per km than the OCMC 6 hour.
@brenton900Ай бұрын
I saw some videos about that race. Do you have an event link for it next year?
@woodlandwuguiАй бұрын
I totally understand, family first! Glad he made it back safely, having your passport stolen is an absolute nightmare, but atleast its not a PR card, that's even worse as the embassy want nothing to do with you. and long as i dont have to iron man a 6 hour! my soft frail body wouldnt survive!
@rondaniels9974Ай бұрын
@@woodlandwugui Doing 6 hours is how we un-soft and un-frail our bodies (and learn to know our own pace and stick with it even if it means a certain New Zealander might get himself on video passing you). Embassy was actually great. Didn't open until Monday but they had a temp passport by the end of the day, once they Embassy opened.

It was great riding with you, Chris, and Lucas. We like Drury as a good warm-up before continuing on to Horseshoe or sometimes as a liitle bit of faster riding in the middle of a Horseshoe day. Unfortunately you didn't get to do some of the best parts of Drury. Mark turned back east before the more hilly western part of Drury during our initial loop and then on the eastern part we missed some of the optional rock piles that were covered in snow. Also when conditions are better, a higher speed on the sections you did do make them feel different with more of a slalomy feel in the twisty bits and more fun on the deeply whooped sections. We also skipped the first bit of the east section and did the whole thing in the opposite direction (CCW) from the way we usually run it. Those are some of the nice things about the SCORRA trails though: lots of variety and more alternate bits to explore so it's never boring and different seasons can make the same trails quite different to ride. The changes in scenery with the different seasons are nice too.
@woodlandwuguiАй бұрын
I did wonder why we skipped the first entrance to the trail! But I wasnt going to question it I figured your group knew best and I was happy to just follow along anyways. Not like we were out hunting for hardcore intensity, its just a nice trail ride to wrap up the end of the year! Does this place get horribly overgrown like baxter does in the summer?
@mdsnrrАй бұрын
@@woodlandwugui That was the first time I've ridden with Mark Z and I was confused but it all worked out fine. Drury never seems to get overgrown like many of the other areas. In the spring, there are large areas in Drury carpeted in trilliums beside the trails. It's quite pretty.

mmmm theres not a huge amount done. I got a ST base valve and shock piston put into the suspension, the bladder kit too for the shock. Which made a enormous difference, the stock suspension wasn't coping after a few years of improvement. Upped the rear sprocket to a 50 tooth Drew my own decals and slapped some white plastics on. Pull strap on the rear and front because im always fucking stuck because i cant ride for shit. Theyre both very useful and the s3 punk foot pegs as i caved the stock ones in on greens mountain a few years back. Slapped some mousse in for the cord and run the michelin enduro medium front and IRC ve33s on the rear. Thats about it! haha 🤣

I rode the second day stuff with RC trail ride and agree this trail system is super tough. I do want to com back as well to practice. One question unanswered by anyone is what suspension setting were they running. How the F you setup for this terrain? Btw, caring for babies is way harder than this ride. LOL
@woodlandwugui3 ай бұрын
I had it at pretty much mid settings for my forks and the same soft for my shock. I usually crank it up on my forks to make it harder for sommerville/racing, but softened it a bit for day 1 because i knew greens was gonna be rough, and that felt 'fine'. The second day was like smooth butter though, compared to the first day! I do have a minor upgrade from stock, valve change in the forks and a bladder kit in my shock. And I dont doubt that, haha, gotta get the training in now to prepare for the chaos to come.
