When I listen to this aria, I have never seen anyone sing it as perfectly as deutekom, before or since. The caballe's voice is good, but the pronunciation is difficult to understand, and most other modern sopranos are also at that level. However, there will no longer be a soprano who can sing this song perfectly at a stable tempo and use staccato and vibrato appropriately.

Es una BELLEZA total de voz . Y cuando dijo belleza, digo el todo. Muchos comentarios recibió siempre sobre vaya a saber uno qué purismo de turno no podía o no puede soportar la originalidad particular de cada voz. Cristina es la gloria de lo que se dice cantar, del bel canto, de lo lírico. Muyyyyyyy infravalorada porque el ser humano es envidioso y le cuesta aceptar a los fenomenales. Por allí leo de algunos "pequeños errores".....¿Que otros cantantes no los tienen, no los han tenido o tendrán? Muéstrame cuantos en vivo hacen TODO bien....en fin.... A Ctistina siempre se le permite decir "algo"....porque ha hecho de todo y jamás malogró su voz. Y lo hizo con medios genuinos sin problemas en todo el registro de su voz a lo largo de toda su carrera. ¿Cuantos pueden o pudieron hacerlo? Una lección de vida artística, de conducta vocal acertada. Y aquí es impactante escuchar su metal , fluidez y destreza. Una grande. HERMOSO aporte este, que nunca había visto. Y tambien hermosos comentarios acerca de la clase de realeza vocal. Ich hatte kürzlich das Glück, auf CD eine Aufzeichnung von Cosi fan tutte aus dem Opernhaus La Fenice in Venedig aus dem Jahr 1968 zu erwerben. Ich persönlich fand es beeindruckend, wie sehr Cristina Deutekom in der Rolle der Fiordiligi ihre Riesenstimme zurücknahm, um im Ensemble ein stimmiges Höreerlebnis zu schaffen! Die wunderbare Tatiana Troyanos sang übrigens die Dorabella!

Diese grossartige Sängerin stellt alles bis heute gehörte (und es ist Vieles) in den Schatten!!!!

I heard her Norma at the Lyric in Chicago about 12 years before this production. She filled that very large house with immense and immensely beautiful sound and, as can be heard here, she acted with her voice and knew how to use gestures and stillness of movement very well. I have seen other Normas [unfortunately not Sutherland] but Deutekom's is the one that remains as the best in my memory.

Die "angejodelten" Koloraturen erinnern mich übrigens an einen anderen weltberühmten Sopran! Ihre Norma 1975 oder 1976 aus San Francisco lässt mich einfach atemlos zurück!!!

A lesson in good 'support,' that is: 1) breathing correctly, 2) controlling the emission of the inhaled air, and 3) balancing the energy of the outflowing air with the energy of the vocal 'cords' (folds). She aspirates the melismas-not ideal, but Pons did it, too. [Per the teaching of Dr. Mabel Oiesen.]
