I was fortunate to live during the era of gassers. I grew up spending every weekend at Lions Drag Strip during the 60's on into the 70's. It was a time when so much drag racing history was made.

There is no comparison between your Buick and a new Buick!!! The 37 is basically a hand built machine made of steel and to last. The new one is a bunch of cheap plastic glued together so as soon as you leave the windows up on a hot day, the dash explodes into a thousand pieces. They're made to fall apart!!!

An absolute gorgeous work of art! I love the color. 10 years is not bad. I bought my '36 Special back in 2007 and am still fixing her up! Needs an engine rebuild and someday add an overdrive unit.

Thanks for a wonderful video. My Grandfather worked as a die maker at the Buick in 1937 and incidentally purchased a new 1937 Century. My family is linked to Buick in Flint for generations, including me in the late 1980's. It's all gone now. What a time and what wonderful machines. Enjoy yours!

Thanks for the great video. I have had 2 Buicks in my life. The first was a 1963 Skylark, the same year I was born. Owned that beauty in 1990. Turquoise with turquoise interior and turquoise vinyl top. I also had a 1976 Regal in 1986. Burgundy with burgundy velour interior and t-tops. Also a great car. I just found this channel and will enjoy watching all the posts. Plus I live in Pasadena. Great to see my home town featured.

I had a 1936 Century, same color and body style. I also once had a 1940 Ford coupe V8, a famous moonshiner’s car largely because it was so fast for the time. But when I got the ‘36 Buick my first thought was, “anyone who thinks a ‘40 Ford V8 is fast has never driven a straight 8 Buick!”
@michaelbenardo56958 ай бұрын
You are correct, but they were comparing the Ford V8 mostly to Chevys, Plymouths, Pontiac and Olds 6 cyl, and the Dodge. The Ford would handily outrun those.
@sparkplug00008 ай бұрын
@@michaelbenardo5695 I agree. One of the things I enjoy most about vintage cars is having old guys come up and reminisce about the one they had just like it. But that never happened when I had the Buick, it was not a common man’s car like Fords, Chevrolets, Plymouths and Dodges. And certainly not one a moonshiner could afford, not to mention how it would stand out. It sure was fun to drive though!

Thank you, Stanley, for preserving history for all of us. I will never get to your museum, but just knowing that these automobiles are there for all to see and touch is a genuinely wonderful thing you are doing. Also thank you Myrna for your support for Stanley all these years.

At 1:02 this scene is so prophetic of the times we live in. A 37 Chevy gasser passing an electric Tesla. The complete opposite ends of the spectrum. I'll take the 37 Chevy. It has a soul.
