Thanks for the video. I've got some Klipsch CDT-5650-C IIs on the way and notice reading on mounting options on Crutchfield that they recommend "replacing the original mounting panel" with 1/2" or 3/4" plywood or MDF vs. just mounting using the drywall. I haven't seen anyone do this on any videos yet - I assume the speakers will probably be fine in just the drywall? I'm using these as rear surrounds in a 7.2 setup so not asking them to do too much. Was just curious on your opinion. Thanks again!

You could build a small ring for the speakers using wood and slide in back behind he speakers. Really not needed.

It is a TV made for the 1% that have large homes and oversized doors to allow for installation. Yes it is pretty cool, but until I can afford Micro LED Modular tiles to make whatever size of TV I want, I certainly won’t be a buyer of one of these TV’s. You need 3 or 4 people to get this bloody thing in the door and on the wall. Not to mention the speaker placement sucks if you are used to Acoustically transparent screens on a projector. Too each their own, but even if I wanted to buy something like this I would not want to be one of the first Guinea Pigs to try out new tech on a huge screen like this. I would wait for 2nd 3rd or 4th gen when the kinks are ironed out.

Advocating for a projector vs a mini-LED is just ridiculous. Projectors will NEVER come close to matching a TV like this. Projectors are dull and have low brightness and distorted colors, unless you are talking about XD or IMAX level projectors. I would take this TV over any projector without any hesitation.
@theaterdesignco
@theaterdesignco 2 ай бұрын
Point of my video is getting this into a home and then your limited to max size of 115". We do home theaters so this has little place in our market. Also you may be looking at the wrong projectors.

@@theaterdesigncoi have this 115” TV that was just installed by Best Buy in one of my walls. I have also had multiple home theaters and projector. No projector within that price range comes even close to this mini-led massive TV. Not even close!

@@dr.victorpena16IMAX level projectors aren”t very good either to be honest. They are very bright, but the black levels are not at all very good when comparing to a TV. It just depends on what you want. I want my whole wall to be a display, so I sacrifice black levels and contrast. I don’t want a MONOLITH 100”, or 110” or 115”, so I could care less that this TCL has better brightness. I also don’t want the SO CALLED WHITE GLOVE guys trying to fit this ridiculous 115” TV with huge wooden crate through the bloody door. Good for you that you can afford this and probably have a oversized front door, but most of us do not. Until Samsung and Sony are able to offer Micro LED modular tiles so that the middle class can make their own size of TV as they see fit, I don’t see these giant TV’s being popular for middle class home owners with a regular sized living rooms or even dedicated basement Theaters. Which is another pain in the ass to try to deal with.

And then there's polarity to consider. You're measuring the voice coil DC resistance. Speakers work on AC, they have an "impedance" which is frequency dependent due to reactive components. So the "ohm load" the amplifier will see, as you put it, will be higher than your reading and all over the place depending on frequency components of the signal. And the wires act as transmission lines which can also have some effect on the impedance the amplifier output drives.
@theaterdesignco

You are correct in some ways but I am explaining basic ohms law for DIY guys so they do not blow up their gear!! Cheers
@elgringoec
@elgringoec 3 ай бұрын
@@theaterdesignco That's okay, it's a complex issue (no pun intended) 😂 Man it's been ages since I worked with polar coordinates and complex impedances. It's fundamental in electrical engineering and helps with speaker design. But yeah just hooking stuff up it doesn't really help to know that a nominal eight ohm driver may present twenty something ohms to the amplifier at resonance. However when hooking up a pair of speakers for stereo listening, it makes a difference whether they're connected in phase with each other or not. Don't most modern amps have internal protection against excessive output current and excess thermal buildup?
