The over exagerated fall and rise is theatrical affectation applied for competition. Through this Foxtrot becomes like Waltz, and Waltz becomes like Foxtrot. Consider the world of dog breeding as an analogy. Over time, if judges do not score dogs according to size standards that have limits, the dogs get bigger and bigger through many generations. In dancing one might wonder why Russians have not eclipsed English dancers at Blackpool. This has not happened because judges have yet to allow dramatic theatrics to overshadow written standards. Eventually, the written standard is rewritten in favor of affectations that judges favor. Thereby dance evolves.

Two fallaway locks could be a better term. Arunas locks behind 2 times, Mirko does not lock back the second time. This is one of the specialities of Arunas and Katusha. The point is to make it musical. Arunas is the expert (his first "fallaway" is sidestep only). Compared to Mirko and Edita´ s fallaways on the same cannel, I do not like Mirko´s version, especially that he does not lock back second time. Mirko is not musical at all. My advice is to follow Arunas. And call it two fallaway locks.

This video impressively shows how complex the movements in ballroom dancing are. I could look at this a thousand times and always discover something new.

I cannot find the 3rd Fallaway neither, but the Lady 12 steps are: 1. S, RF Back, 2. &, LF Back, 3. Q, RF Back 4. Q, LF Turn 1/2 Forward, 1st Fallaway 5. Q, RF Side 6. Q, LF Back 7. S, RF Back, 8. &, LF Back, 9. Q, RF Back 10. Q, LF Turn 1/2 Forward, 2nd Fallaway 11. Q, RF Side 12 . Q, LF Back Or repeat 1-6 twice

Is it three Fallaways? The second Fallaway looks more like a side lock. It’s a variation.

Slip Pivot action - the foot that pivots allows the free foot to slip almost together with the pivoting foot, and once the pivot ends (keenly, with the pivot amounting to about 1/4 turn or a bit more), the un-pivoted foot (free foot) is on a heel weight "tap" in front of the pivoted foot in a sort of cross when the pivot turn is over, and therefore, that free foot is now allowed to step forward into any desired figure. I should be an ISTD Fellow Examiner - I hope I said this description of the "slip pivot' like Alex Moore would like it........

Actually this *is* called Three Fallaways. (Wich still is strange, concerning there are only two Fallaways). Btw, that's not a Lock Step, but a Side Cross.
@keithang33753 жыл бұрын
Where's the third fallaway..??
@wingtoy3 жыл бұрын
The first falloway start at step 1 to step 3, the second falloway start at step 4 to 6, the third falloway start at step 7 to 9.

Pure and utter BULLSHIT! "rolling action in viennese waltz"... kids please don't listen to this crab! Just look at the absolutely horrible and incorrect bodypositions/alignments! You have to have beautiful bodyposition at ANY given moment in time when you dance (and trust me, ANYONE of the TRULY great teachers out there, the ones who themselves were giant, would disapprove of this... and trust me, I've asked them ;-) ) Mirko was once a good dancer with Alessia, Edita unfortunately destroyed that.
@StudioMargalima5 жыл бұрын
Of course all the respect for them, but i never understood why Mirko drop his right arm during the Hover cross.
@MultiWandering5 жыл бұрын
You release the right arm to allow the lady to create more shape
@mibeseev4 жыл бұрын
I don‘t mind the arm. It is indeed a funtion of wha the lady does. What surprises me is that the commentator to the video counted the Three Step with S,Q,Q and not Q,Q,S as written in the book. Typical mistake. The priorr S is part of the Feather Finish.
@lunamielleei31634 жыл бұрын
No fan of the sway in this step/movement. I prefer the standard movement with no sway; more refined and lovely. There are enough other line figures where the lady sways.

BRILLIANT and FANTASTIC. Any more videos like this (other steps, in the waltz)? A couple of outstanding quality and musicality. Their 2017 video of slow waltz to Lous Armstrong and What a Wonderful World is ONE OF THE TEN BEST waltzes in history, every world professional champions included. I think their other dances need a lot of work to even begin to come close to their masterpiece of the waltz.
