Maybe the power supply break or you input the incorrect voltage. Such as input 24V to 12V strip or in reverse

That is very strange, did you cut directly across the solder pads? Also is it one of our strips?

These have a pretty tight fit and you would need to real pull hard if you have a number of these fixings in place ...but yes I guess the idea it to your sign our of reach if it is really going to be an issue
