Man o man, do I love simultaneous launches. Especially when the Bow and Waist are in sync. Back in the day, all 4 catapults could be launched under 5 minutes. Not in today’s Navy unfortunately.

The still at :26 is why the Tomcat is, in my opinion one of the most beautiful mechanical objects I have ever seen. The wings swept all the way back…. parked on deck…. That quiet before the storm; SO graceful ❤

Totally agree with you. She's beautiful. I probably watch top gun at least once a day, not for Tom Cruise the heck with the guy, I watch for the tomcat just like everyone else we appreciate her for her service from Iraq and Afghanistan and for the military men and women have been service to keep us safe.

They say high maintenance cost was a factor for the loss of the tomcat I think they should have scrapped the b2 spirit before it even started I mean there's a fair chunk of cash that was useful and let's face it how can a stupid bomber protect you the growl of a tomcat you just can't replace a legend I love you f14 and thank you for your video

I don't know what a NAF is in the Navy we call it Naval Air Station aka NAS.
@okisoba5 ай бұрын
Naval Air Facility - it's smaller than a Naval Air Station. Kind of like how we named installations in Iraq and Afghanistan based on size - Camp, FOB, COB, COS, COP, PB, etc.

Too bad the Navy screwed over the F-14 by retiring it. Would have been nice to see that Super Tomcat replace it.
@batvette5 ай бұрын
High maintenance costs and over half the airframes having stress cracks ended the program. Maintenance man hours per flight hour was insane. That translates to low ready rate for deployed squadrons who can only berth so many men on the CV.

The gunsight looks so much more stable and predictable than heatblurs version in dcs F14B. Gunsight in dcs F14 is all over the place. Overall for bfm dcs f14b in its current build flight characteristics to me seem pretty all over the place. It's like if manic depresssive bipolar mania was a flight model. Completely different, little to no consistency highly volatile will kill me or get me killed with wrong control input, except situationally/regime-wise there seems to never be correct control input will never give me what I need from it when it really counts, which is funny bc it didn't seem to be that way to me when dcs F14B was my main pvp bfm squeeze during covid lockdown. Thing feels completely different now, dcs f14 is so wretched compared to F15,16,18, su27, m2k performance-wise in pvp bfm, if I wanna fly it and have good chance of winning, I'm confined to single player bfm vs AI

what're your questions? Nearly all of this footage came from the "Fighter Fling" and Cruise videos from the F-14 squadrons. You can find most of them on KZbin and might be able to find DVDs of them on eBay.
