You deserve more subs bro, i have a E385s on my way along with the scarlett focusrite 2i2 4th gen, itll be my first interface and im excited to use the loopback too for making beats. I seen a mic comparison of like 25 mics on a guitar amp where a guy looped a riff and let the mics test the same riff and one that really stood out as a 99$ contender was the shure unidyne 545s. I was considering the sm57 for guitar amp but now i may grab that 545s instead

I always use windscreen for my microphone because I smoke. I think the e835 does sound better with the windscreen. not too much with the sm58 because its already warm sounding microphone, a wind screen only gonna make it muddy.

Good test. Both are excellent mics, but the Sennheiser sounds a bit brighter to me.

I prefer the E835 because it sounds natural, and does not emphasize low end and sound width like the SM58 does.

e865, or bust! I just cancelled my bid on a shiny e815, as it must sound that much worse than the e835 in the video. i'm'a gonna snaffle a e865 - you cannot have too much detail! It can't be too defined.

I agree with this review. I have three e865s and really like them as they're clear and precise sounding, but they're not for every vocalist. For a rock band, or maybe a less particular vocallist it's back to the SM58, or beta 58a. I've just bought a Shure Beta 87a which has, in my opinion, even more clarity but with less bass output, making it fine for most female voices, but less so for some applications.

845 seems the best (right in the middle)

Ive tried others including the e835 my favorite is still the sm58 been using mine for years the sm 58 is well built the e835 is more for people with a soft singing voice

SM58 seemed more of a realer sound if that makes sense, more depth, where the sennheiser seems more clear at the start but when you did the beatbox the e835 did much better.

Preamps in the mixer also make a difference i use sm 58 with a presonus studiolive ar8 for mixing and recording and i am too impressed to use any other microphone

Both are pretty good microphones. I have both. I generally prefer the Sennheiser for live performances.

sm58 has more pronounced low end and the "P" tend to boom more. the E835 def has more air and cuts more. I think in the context of a band the E835 is better, but they are clearly both great and either one is a no brainer.

You need to play a note into the pedal to give the pitch correction a reference note

E835 sounds most balanced. Maybe better for male voices. E865 seems best for female vocals.
