@@PatriciaWaters-y4f yes drivers side is accessed through the timing cover cap. Passnger side is accessed through a cover next to the harmonic balancer.

Awesome thank you. How is the throttle response? Does the power come on soothly? Is the recirculation valve feeding back in between the maf and turbo inlet? Did you use a wast gate also? Do you have a good source for learning about binary editor? Can I use any j2534 cable or does it need to be a mongoose? Is the ecu also chipped? I have a sct tuner do you think there is anything I can do with that? I appreciate your time.

Hits boost by 2k rpm max boost by 3k rpm and holds till redline, i have to be super chill on take offs, a slightly bigger turbo would be beneficial. yes recirculation feeds in post maf pre-turbo. Yes cheap ebay wastegate.

Thanks for the insight. Mine broke same cylinder, same type a break right above the "o-ring". So what I did was with patients - I used epoxy. I found out what the inside diameter was of the injector. I found a screw/bolt that would fit and was a decent length of about 4 inches. Next, I used a extra 3/8 socket(long) with the head end of the screw/bolt inserted into the socket. Epoxied this together. Then I took the end going into the broken injector made it jagged/flattened to give more surface area for the epoxy. You do this just enough up the screw/bolt for the depth of the epoxy. I cleaned both the screw/bolt and broken injector with isopropyl alcohol. I mixed up a simple epoxy(JB WELD Original). I used a syringe with a long needle tip to apply this and I must say this IS NECCESARY to make sure the adhesive gets in the right spot. Applied a little to the screw/bolt to cover all the part that would be inserted. Put the two together. Let the epoxy set. Came back with the 3/8 drive and rotated it. Now you need to ensure the whole injector is spinning otherwise this did not work. Once I was comfortable it was secure I put a driver on it and spun it a few times. I put the extension and ratchet back on and manually pulled up and rotated. It took some upward force but it popped. It came out glued to the screw! I threw the whole setup socket/screw as far as I could in celebration and relief. Good luck people, godspeed.

Did you happen to take any pictures of the contraption you made? I’m struggling to get an injector out with the same issue. I have tried the magnet and hitting it through but it won’t budge. Was going to try the epoxy method but I am not following your description. Basically did you insert a bolt into The broken injector then epoxy a Socket on the top of the bolt and then epoxy the end that went into injector

@JakeBerthoff i simply pushed the injector tip into the cylinder and extracted with the magnet through the spark plug hole.

I wanted to ask you if it is possible release the cams from the sprockets to gain access to the valve springs keeper and seals etc without a complete timing chain cover tear down? Not possible on the vk56 engine, timing cover has to be removed to release the camshafts. The 3.6l pentastar (dodge) engine has a special tool known as a "cheese wedge" that binds the timingchain to allow cam removal. If your chasing an excessive oil burning issue its the pcv valves x2, if that doesnt fix it its the piston rings. Fyi junkyard engine is less than 2k.

I havent ever seen a spring or valve seal failure on the vk or vq engines. If its a ticking noise your chasing its piston slap, chain slap , or a low oil pressure issue. All of witch ties back to missed oil changes and negelect.

@@AndrewMorris-p5r double check, and triple check all bolts are removed, there are flat tabs/ slots around the cover that you pry on to disrupt the silicone adhesion, pry on all of them 3 times before attempting seperation. Will require some force, timing cover is aluminum (wont bend, flexes then shatters,.

Hello! UK Cougar owner (and club member) here. I've never seen one that was so grannied that the butterflies got coked up, but it's worth knowing that at highway speeds in the auto specifically, the IMRC will be closed. If this car spent its previous life doing long commutes, that would explain it. Also, it's worth knowing that the IMRC also controls the fuel map. If you take one apart you'll find a little microswitch under a cam. When the switch is pressed, it tells the ECU to drop in more gas. Without it, you'll also be down on power. So if you disconnect it permanently from the butterflies, (as I have with one of mine) at least keep it connected to the wiring so it activates and the ECU is happy. Lastly, the reason they usually fail under normal use is that the stupid thing is positioned right over the right (front) exhaust bank, and the transistor that Ford fitted to the unit is not thermally hardened! You can repair a faulty IMRC by replacing it with a resistor designed for hot environments, with a thicker encapsulation and a copper heatsink.

Quick question for ya. I have a 2014 nissian sentra doing this. It will come out of park IF I have the ebrake on. Does that give me an indication that its the brake switch or do I need to volt test? I dont have a tester and have no idea how that works 😂.

Ebrake on or off shouldnt affect the shifter. The ebrake switch just turns on the brake light on the dash. Thats a weird one for sure. Let me look over the wiring diagram ill get back to you.

Nicely done. Yeah, the manifolds on these are super challenged! Any idea who made those steel ones? I'm seeing lots of issues with them on the 2000-2002 models (Xterras), without the catalytic converters. Bigger issue when the cats are built in (obviously). The ones I'm working with are cast iron, so welding them is tough. I did try it, but they don't last long. I'm considering trying a new Chinesium cast iron set (pretty much all that is available now, in areas that require emissions) and applying a ceramic coating or ceramic dip to see if that will prevent future cracking. I've noticed they seem to crack most often while driving in colder wet weather. I wonder if the cold water is splashing up on them and hitting them while very hot?

Do you think a 2016 KIA could have similar issues? I have confirmed everything else is good (gas cap, both solenoids, fuse, canister, lines appear fine) I am getting a P0456 and thought I would next focus on the fuel pressure sensor (typically throws a P0455).

My injector broke and got stuck just like this I am nowhere near as experienced as you but if I’m understanding correctly you put that magnet through the spark plug hole? And bent it at an angle to get the stuck piece?
