Yeah I struggled through a lot of the combo trials back in the day using what I knew from Street Fighter 4 and UMvC3, and found them extremely difficult. I could never understand how the pros could be so consistent to the point where they hardly ever drop anything. Once you learn the button hold trick though, the execution becomes much more consistent - I will say though that it does take a while to work KoF's combo system into the muscle memory. By the way, title for hardest fighting game trials definitely belongs to the little known "Koihime Enbo Ryo RaiRai".

If you can perform a special attack, you can perform a special cancel. Simply press an attack button, then input the special as or before the attack hits, and hold the button down. The easiest example is pressing Heavy Punch + Heavy Kick to get your character's standing Blowback attack, and then canceling into a Special from that.

In your Steam Library, right click the game > Properties > Controller > Controller Configurator, then map your triggers to buttons you don't use (such as L3 and R3). The game doesn't recognize triggers by default. Also, make sure you Enable Steam Input in the game, if it isn't enabled already.

This was live-streamed. At the beginning, before people ask questions, I just say whatever is on my mind. I think Strive is a very bad game, which is why I have now uninstalled it. Then, when someone asked a question about Roman Cancels, I spent time to answer it thoroughly and as helpfully as possible. That's why all of my stream titles contain "Open Q&A" if you catch them live.

Actually, I don't pay attention to colors. I usually just pick the default color, the one the designers intended first. And the "kick" button in Guilty gear is how you select the default color in Yatagarasu (where it is the "light punch" button). So the muscle memory just carried over.

i understand how to Block, but i swear it almost Never works. it might be Because i play on the vita version, or maybe im Just that Bad, but ive only been able to Block enemy attacks when the game Feels like it. is there any other input i need to correctly block?? or is it specific timing??
@Moqlnkn3 ай бұрын
I highly recommend NOT playing on a handheld device. Play on a console or PC - most people play on Steam - and plug in your router via an ethernet cable. This will reduce the amount of latency between you and your opponent, causing your inputs to register faster and/or for the opponent's animations to display more sharply. If that is not your issue, or if you exclusively play offline, then there are a few things that could be contributing to your inability to block. It could be a malfunction with your directional buttons. It could be delayed inputs because of the Vita's hardware limitations. You should also know that certain attacks must be blocked a certain way. "Low" attacks must be blocked while crouching, and "Overhead" attacks must be blocked while standing. A few attacks cannot be blocked, namely throws and a few rare unblockables. While jumping, you can't block any striking attacks the opponent does from the ground, unless you use Faultless Defense. You also cannot block while attacking; your character must be in a neutral position. Blocking does not require ANY timing. You just hold a direction, and your character will automatically block when attacked, if possible. Slashback and Instant Block require timing, but just regular blocking and Faultless Defense do not.

I was reading the rules for KOF XV for Evo Japan 2024. There was one rule for controller setting which I didn't understand. It says; "Operation other than movement [Weak attack, middle attack, strong attack, special technique, abilities (default: R1), throw (default: L1), guard (default: R2), overhead attack (default: L2)] Cannot be assigned to multiple input mechanisms." What does cannot be assigned to multiple input mechanisms mean in this context? I was wondering if a player over here is allowed to have multiple buttons assigned to a single function as in two buttons for light kicks or light punches as such. Is that allowed ???
@Moqlnkn3 ай бұрын
I believe that rule is becoming more popular over time, as it should. The optimal controller should not be a pizza box with fifty buttons. In a few games, not having this rule would break the game. Hilde from Soul Calibur is a good example. She had moves similar to Balrog's Turn Around Punch, which is to say you had to hold a button down for a while and then release it... except, in old Soul Caliburs, you could just bind the button twice, hold one of them down for the charge move, and use the other button as normal, which led to many overpowered interactions. This type of exploit is usually not possible, though - Soul Calibur was exceptional.
@sneharashmi75533 ай бұрын
@@MoqlnknI appreciate your reply .., but I didn't get it. Which means KOF tournaments don't allow this from the aforementioned rules, right? Like with the SoulCalibur example ...
