Loved this and loved the museum thank you for posting. We have often looked at the rails going into the muse and wondered if the trains had come by rail

So wonderful to see, wish we could have seen more of the collection. It’s such a shame that factory made mass produced products have destroyed so many “hand made” markets, skill sets slowly lost to time as fewer practice the craft.

Many of the slaves used in the tobacco trade were Irish. If you travel to Montserrat you will hear an Irish twang, many Irish traditions. The slavery trade affected Ireland over many centuries. People from Northern Africa would sail North and raid the western coast of Ireland, pillage the villages and take back slaves. They would breed the Irish women, hence the genetics of some North African countries are closely linked to Ireland. Unfortunately our own emerald Isle was held as an indentured slave for many centuries. I believe it was the only country that was wholly controlled for such a length of time where the entire population was put to work as effective slaves (revenue generators). However it is also a tale of how such a horrible history can generate a partnership as close as the AngloIrish relationship. Here's to peace and partnership in the future.

This absolutely wonderful, not only because of the opportunity to see these wonderful pieces, but because of the knowledge and enthusiasm of the curator. I could have watched an hour of this and I hope the museum will make more of this collection available online.

Fantastic playing as always for Cathal. If I may be so bold, the whole set seems rushed to me. It would have sounded even better slowed down a little.

When did NIPS Use the PR-24 Baton?
@NationalMuseumsNI
@NationalMuseumsNI 3 ай бұрын
Thanks for the question! Apologies for the delay, we were consulting with our contact from the NI Prison Service. It seems the PR 24 was in use in HMP Maze around 1992/1993 and remained in service until early 2000s

Didn't he kill every man woman and child within 4 miles of lough neagh, with a scorched earth policy during the "plantation" that was unprecedented in Europe, something we never learned at school .

Thanks for a video which has broadened my knowledge of traditions. I have also been a long time fan of the Ulster Folk Museum. This should be on the itinerary of any one visitng the North, give yourself at least a day and a half.

Not Irish. The Mellons were invaders of Ireland not even three generations before. Went to America for even better land theft.

I know where one of these abandoned, 16 made is. Too bad that they're only 9k in good condition because it's not worth restoring, especially with that poxy little 1.5l possibly inline 4 engine.
