I had both knees replaced 11 years ago and cannot even kneel on the mattress to make the bed. Excruciating even with a pillow under it. I have fallen a couple of times and tried scooting, backing up to the couch and pushing myself onto the couch. When I fell on the sidewalk, there was nothing to boost myself up on and did not want to have my knee on the concrete. I twisted my body over so only my feet and hands made contact with the ground and walked back using my hands. Not ideal as my shoulders are not so strong either.

Awesome video instruction for people who dont know how to strengthen their shoulders at home with resistance bands. This note is for the video creator, can you try to auto sound level your mic because your voice spiked twice in the video and it was hard to understand what you said and the volume difference throws that part of the video out of sync.

When I squat , my right knee turns inward.
@restorepluspt4 күн бұрын
A little of the knee turning inward during squatting is acceptable @morganh5611. Usually it should be even on both sides. If not or if it is a lot, strengthen your hip abductors (gluts medius). I have some videos showing how to do that. Sidelying straight leg raise and clam shell exercises are good examples. I hope this helps.

I slept on my back on the couch for the first week. (Our bedroom is upstairs and I wasn’t ready to tackle the stairs yet.) I was taking a low dose of oxycodone during that time which pretty much knocked me out. Fortunately, I was able to make it upstairs by the end of that week and I slept in my own bed, on my back at first, but then I switched from side to side and tried to move my legs as much as possible. I’m eleven days post op and my flexion is 90 degrees already. Of course, I had a partial knee replacement, but I’m 72 years old, so there’s that.

@restorepluspt4 күн бұрын
I'm sorry to hear this @waheedacassim9737. There are a couple of things here. It is important to determine what is causing the pain. Is it inflammation or is there something else? Also having good strength on your quads and gluts max are important in getting up from sitting position. Getting the inflammation down and strengthening those muscles will be a good place to start. I hope this helps.🙏

@restorepluspt11 күн бұрын
I'm sorry to hear that @ritikabhattacharya6623. 30 degrees at 3 weeks post op is not a lot. I suggest doing the exercises I showed in the video as often as your can. I use the metaphor 100x a day to communicate how much you need to do the exercises. With ACL surgery there is a precaution when doing the heel slide with the strap. Make sure you are using your other leg to bring the surgery leg into extension. At your stage, you are not allowed active extension in the last 30 deg. I hope this helps.🙏

@Barbara-ex3ge18 күн бұрын
Hello. I appreciate this video is a year old but I’d really like a structured program I can follow. I had a revision knee replacement in January (my original one 10 years in NZ was not good and surgeon here in France the prosthesis was the wrong size and patella 4cm too low). I am 72. I did well at first but then got covid followed by 2 soft tissue infections. I feel I have gone backwards in my recovery. I stopped going to physio because it hurt too much. I have good ROM (0 to 120) but my knee is stiff, especially when I get up but is ok once I start moving. I can ride my bike. But I can’t walk more than few hundred metres without experiencing pain and needing to be careful not to limp. I look forward to hearing from you if I’m not too late
@restorepluspt18 күн бұрын
I'm sorry to hear about your experience @Barbara-ex3ge. I understand your situation. The good thing is that you have good ROM. 0-120 is very good. Keep up with your flexion and extension stretch to maintain this. The stiffness when you get up is common in your situation. Mostly it's the scar tissue around the area. My suggestion is move your knee every 15 minutes to prevent this from happening. Movement is key that is why you feel better when you start moving. So incorporate that when you are sitting. The pain you have when you walk a few hundred meters (which is not a long distance) is most probably due to inflammation. I recommend icing your knee or even taking some OTC to help you get that inflammation down. Also do strengthening exercises to help you walk further. You can look at my channel for various exercises that can help you. If you need specific instructions tailored for your condition, let me know and we can set something up. I hope this helps.

@restorepluspt18 күн бұрын
I'm sorry to hear this @hyannamusic. Sometimes it does happen that the symptoms you feel are not very specific. I wish you the best.🙏

@restorepluspt18 күн бұрын
Good question @kabnis2022. Yes it is possible depending on the severity of your injury. If you dislocated it once, with proper strengthening, the chances of you getting back to doing overhead smash is high. If it is repeated dislocations already, it is still possible but the chances goes down. Check out the video I created for the exercises on how to prevent shoulder dislocation. I hope this helps.🙏

Hi, I'm 47 and 26 days after TKR, I slept on my back and occasionally with a pillow under my knee at nighttime but not during the day when I slept, I was also able to do various exercises quite early on, my issue is that I am unable to bend my leg to 90° and that is hindering my walking, what ever I try I am physically unable to bend this leg further. I must say due to communication issues I have also not had any physio at all.

I suggest checking out my other videos on how to improve your knee flexion and doing them as often as you can. Also using heat on your quads and massaging it can help make the stretching more effective. I hope this helps.🙏
