Why not join the bus wires together and make a full loop of it then the power can travel both way not just one direction??... it is better for the circuit.

HI there. Great video! Thanks for sharing your knowledge. Do you use the DIgitrax transponding features like the RX4, etc. ? If so, have you thought of creating a video showing how to setup Digitrax transponding with the BDL and RX* transponders? I've been searching for a how to video on this, but haven't found anything helpful. Cheers!

Are you still making responses to this video? What about the controller is the most clunky? My son and I are getting one and I'd like some pointers on things to be aware of. I spotted the throttle position comment as a big one.

Why didn’t you just straighten out the entrance to each end instead of keeping them offset , if a pro type bridge was 10feet out on the other end making a s bridge people would be fired

A very nice and informative video. I'm very much a novice when it comes to model railroading, and had a question regarding these tunnel liners: I plan on having two tunnels on my layout, and want to configure them so that I can easily remove the tops for access in the event of a derailment. I'm wondering, though, if putting in tunnel liners would make this more difficult, or if there's a way to situate the liners so that I could still get into the tunnel from above. Thank you!!

yeah, I know it's an old video... but just found it! Was wondering how this all worked out over time - mainly, does the cat5 have enough resistance in the wire over a distance given how thin the wire is? I'm thinking of pinching the idea as I have a load of cat5 around here, but want to run straight from the tortoise to the control panel though led & push button switch - so might be a couple of metre run for some of them.

If you mix your plaster with ice cold water, you will get about a 50% increase in the time you can take before the plaster really gets to hard to work.
@davidcurtis53982 жыл бұрын
I use this method all of the time for these and for roads. i will mix the plaster just a little thinner and then just tap the table top with a small hammer (or actually most anything) and the plaster usually will settle down and this will negate a lot of the sanding. I have even had this method to come out completely smooth with no sanding needed. Even taping on the table would smooth this stiff mix...
@davidcurtis53982 жыл бұрын
When I make a tunnel I will put a re-railer piece of track just inside the tunnel where no one can see. this usually (99% of the time) keep you from having derailing problems in the tunnel.

Were all those signals off one driver?
@DetroitRiverRailroad2 жыл бұрын
The signals run off the track power
@KatoOnTheTrack12 жыл бұрын
@@DetroitRiverRailroad this is regarding the signals and how many plug into the driver. Can you confirm? In the SE8C directions it says one driver should control a security element or plant but it looks like only one Digitrax 10 pin signal plugs into 1 of 8 drivers in the board. I have all the equipment just hasn’t had time to sit down wire up and test…
@KatoOnTheTrack12 жыл бұрын
So it looks like ideally I could only control two turnouts or security elements completely with two double head signals for the main line and four single head for mainline other direction and the siding

The tunnel liner form from Woodland Scenics is designed as an HO double track 1/2 tunnel liner form. To make 1/2 of a tunnel for single track, fold the extra, rectangle piece into the mold and tape in place. Then fill the remaining cavity with your plaster. That creates a liner that needs no major cutting or wasting material.

Right on brother...I used your tip, except I just used scissors to cut off the "filler" piece and glued it in the form, since my layout is single track only.

If you dampen the balsa with ammonia based cleaner it will soften the balsa and you can form any shape you want and when it dries it is perfect and the ammonia doesn't do any damage to the balsa structure at all.

I've recently built a grade using the 2% grade risers. I found it easier in my case to cut a template that described the outer edge of the risers. It made it easier for me to follow my intended path instead of trying to sight a center line and guestimate how it aligned with the riser center line. After laying cork road bed and the flex track, I realized I had installed one of the risers upside down. I would not have thought this would cause problem, but it introduced a hump at one junction in the riser path. I'll be able to correct it by freeing the cork from the riser and shimming the cork for about 6 inches, but this indicates that some care should be exercised in using this product. I too used a cheap acrylic adhesive caulk to glue the risers to my foam baseboard.
