I'm a little surprised you don't have decent carving tools.

Dig the videos. Do you prefer chisels to just a straight utility knife?
@lgcustomlureАй бұрын
Thank you! It depends really on the hardness of the wood i'm carving. If i'm carving basswood or Poplar I don't really ever use a chisel, but if I'm carving harder woods like walnut or maple like I used on this rat I pretty much only use the Chisels.

P.S. Where do you get your tails, or do you make your own?
@lgcustomlure3 ай бұрын
I make my own tails using a silicone mold and soft plastic. I'll be sharing a video soon where I walk through my process of making such a mold and casting these tails out of the soft plastic.

@@lgcustomlure Awesome. Really looking forward to that. Thanks.

Wonderful video. I learned quite a bit. You asked for comments on the fall rate of the bait. I agree with you on the slower rate. that will give you a wider range of depth to fish in. If that makes any sense. Thanks for sharing.
@lgcustomlure3 ай бұрын
Thanks a bunch! I agree, the slower rate of fall is more versatile.

Baitfish-esque ✅️ love it! I'd be interested in your clear-coating process because that definitely seems like a daunting task. I'd also be interested to see more about how you made the tail mold. Great video!

Super pretty. Did you add anything special to the clear coat? It kind of looks like it has some glitter in it 🤩

Thanks! I added some fine holographic glitter to it.

Thanks! I just use a fine tip sharpie but it doesn't always work too well. Sometimes I have to prime the tip with ink by writing on paper first

You may want to flip the breakers for your shop, washer, dryer and vacuum the metal box. I know a carpenter who had his shop burn down due to fine dust in the electrical. Also consider installing a gasket of some kind to reduce future dust.

I've never seen a tail like that on a lure. That's a super cool idea! Did you actually use paintbrush bristles for it?

Can you provide a link to the paints you used? Do you have a specific brand to recommend?

I mainly use Createx airbrush paints. A little pricey, but they spray really well through the airbrush!

Hope to see a lot more wooden lure making, This is a super nice lure. Great job narrating too. I have a question: what is the purpose of the shrink tube on the joint? I haven't seen this before. Thanks
@lgcustomlure5 ай бұрын
Thanks! Great question & good eye. The hope is to provide cushioning between any stainless wire and wood contact. This isn't really an issue here as this joint only has wood on wood contact due to the great range of motion. However, I still like the look of the shrink tube over the wire.
@pontoontri-hull1565 ай бұрын
@@lgcustomlureThanks for the reply. I've built a couple hundred wooden lures and watched thousands of lure making videos. This was new to me, so I was curious.
