how do you do this with an automatic when its time for the 6th gear trick? what is the method to use with an automatic?

I have had my 400ex since new in 1999. I had to have one when they came out. Still mostly stock and still runs great! Very reliable bike and although it cant keep up with newer 450s it is definitely not slow!

Its not too late to get a new quad with some new maxxis rubbers and pretend like you never left 🙏🥺

i started riding dirt bikes in Michigan in 1971. In 2004 i switched to 400ex. I am on my second one now. everyone says i should switch to bigger 4-wheelers, but i am going to ride my 400 ex one more time. We love the tight technical trails. i will be 77 this summer but still love it.

I still have my 05 400ex ive had it for 8 years. All ive done is change oil and filters she runs like a dream. Plastic is zip tied but cmon Machine is 20 years old and i flipped it plus gives her personality. Before this i had a Z400 and the only perc was the liquid cooling. The EX has always singed off all my leg hair when i putt around slow but shes more reliable than the Z.

Never understand why you want a 2 inline 180 degree fire sequense would like to sound louder. You compare your water pump with a V twin? Oh dear.... Even a Vulcan 400cc sounds hundred times better.

Not being dick That's when I started riding late '90s early odds... The 250 was prevalent for a while. Yes they had built 400s and banshees and raptors but the best frame was the 250R for the track.. until 450s...... I love the first gen... Guys were still riding three wheelers when I first started riding the older guys

I was not quickly adopted the 250r was the premium race quad up until 450s raptors ex and banshee anrnt track bikes.. 250r was a trail bike day 1... no power valve and choked for the woods.. forgot the z400 and cannondals

Also the air cooled 400 has a lower deeper grunt with an aftermarket exhaust, the high reving liquid cooled 450 is more high pitched and whiny. I prefer the deep bassed thumper sound.
