I'm in a middle ground. I bought decent tools but not Professional level tools, so I'm stuck here in this tool purgatory that I have decent tools and the leap to something like Festool isn't as big. That said, I could still sell my tools and get decent coin for them.

I totally get where you're coming from-making the leap to Festool can feel like a big step. For me, it came down to how much the tools improved my workflow and results. If you're already considering it, you're on the right track. I hope my video can help. Let me know what you decide!

Hard woods and some plywoods can be drilled and tapped. You don't absolutely need to use an insert.
@christofix
@christofix 9 күн бұрын
Thank you for sharing this. You are indeed right. But if you have to constantly remove and replace the bolt, I prefer an insert. The thread you pulled into the wood without an insert will wear out over time. But if you only have to place the bolt once, some woods will hold them without an insert.

I bought two of the FS1400 tracks. The long rail is too big for my small shop and difficult to transport. Haven't had any trouble aligning tracks.

I got one too. But it is easily jammed and I find it difficult to remove the nail! Anyone knows the skill or technique? Thanks.
@christofix
@christofix Ай бұрын
I’ve had that happen too-it’s frustrating! What works for me is disconnecting the tool first, then opening the jam release to clear it carefully. I also make sure to use the right nails and keep it clean and oiled. Holding it straight helps avoid jams too. If it keeps acting up, you might want to reach out to Stanley BOSTITCH support. Hope that helps!

Christophe, I have a Festool Vacuum. But it works way better if you use the Oneida ultimate dust deputy with it. I can send you the photo of it if you wish. It is a box that sits on top of my CT-26E and has a cyclone on top of it and that separates the dust which goes into the box and very little goes into the vacuum bag. This is the ultimate for shop tools vacuum system.

Your wrong. Demonstrably wrong. Wood threads put into wood are significantly stronger than metal inserts. Experiments show this to be true. Your example consisted of you drilling a hole so that the threads on your bolt didnt even engage. You are lazy and or stupid. You are greedy. You just wanted to throw another worthless video together to feed the algorithm. I have told the algorithm to disallow all of your videos. I hate dishonest people.

Mines just a 2x block with no handle or MDF hold down.Like the push stick socket for a handle. If you put a bevel on the block you can make bevel strips by flipping your stock every pass. Taper the block and you can make wedges again flipping the stock.

You are preaching to the choir. They do last. Bought a De Walt screw gun in the States in 2008 for around $100. 6 months later the batteries died. New battery $125! Decided to invest $400 in a Festool system in sustainer with offset chuck, right angle chuck, centric chuck and keyless chuck, two batteries and charger. Now 2024 and STILL going strong on the original batteries. QED. I recently bought a very expensive Danish (Barron) forced action cement mixer and in their regular contact emails the CEO asked me this question "Are you rich enough to buy cheap?" A very clever if not somewhat back to front question that also made me laugh. Festool is not cheap but you only buy it once and that is what will keep me rich (well, in my dreams anyway 😂) These are wise words in this video; white man does not speak with forked tongue.

Why is epoxy glue recommended vs other glues?
@christofix
@christofix 7 ай бұрын
Thanks for watching my video! Epoxy glue is recommended for gluing metal to wood because it forms a strong, durable bond with both materials. When mixed, epoxy resin and hardener chemically react to create a tough adhesive that fills gaps and adheres tightly. This makes the bond very reliable and long-lasting. Other glues, like wood glue or super glue, aren't as effective. Wood glue works well for wood-to-wood joints but doesn't bond well with metal. Super glue bonds quickly but is brittle and not great for filling gaps or handling stress over time. Epoxy's strength, gap-filling ability, and resistance to water and chemicals make it the best choice for securing threaded inserts in wood. I hope I was able to answer your question, my friend. Greetings, Christophe

@christofix
@christofix 8 ай бұрын
Hi Ana, Thank you so much for reaching out and for your kind words about the toy! I really appreciate your interest in building it for your little boy. I must apologize for the inconvenience regarding the free plans. Unfortunately, the automatic system I previously used for distributing the plans is no longer operational due to high costs associated with it. This change has also led to an unfortunate loss of the plans themselves, as they were stored within that system. To add to the troubles, a computer crash resulted in the loss of the original files, leaving me unable to retrieve or resend them. In light of these issues, I am currently investing all my spare time in updating each video and blog post to make it clear that the free plans are no longer available. I've also adjusted the description of this particular video to prevent any future misunderstandings. I'm truly sorry for the disappointment this may cause, and I wish I could offer a more favorable update. Your understanding and support mean a lot to me, and I hope you and your son will still enjoy the content I create. Thank you again for your interest and for reaching out to me. If you have any more questions or need further assistance, please don't hesitate to ask. Warm regards, Chris

Hi there, I’m really sorry to hear that you’ve encountered issues trying to access the plans. Unfortunately, due to unforeseen circumstances, the automatic system we were using to distribute these plans is no longer available. This has affected the delivery of the plans to your email, and to make matters more complicated, I no longer have access to the original plans due to a loss of data caused by a computer crash.
