You can't use montex masks on ICM kits if they are for a revell kit. each mask set is designed for a specific brand and it will tell you that. All brands are different, one size does not fit all, unless the brand is a re-issue from another brand using the same molds. ICM are new tool and will require specific masks, as you saw, with the eduard set. Nice build btw. :)

@scalemodellerbyaccident86712 жыл бұрын
Hello :) I have learned that it does not matter if you use regular paints or varnishes - the thinning ratio is at least seven parts of the thinner. The thinner is good to add to the color - that's my latest statement, not to spray separately on the model. The classic XF-22 or any acrylic-lacquer varnish is still irreplaceable because it is more robust than the water-based one. It's beneficial when you use decal solutions or wethering chemicals.

@jimmytgoose4762 жыл бұрын
I'll be damned ...that must be the deepest thing I've ever heard in connection to modlin 😃👍 Split personality ? To say the least ! A former colleague of mine writes for the UK modelling press and did an article about the ICM Ju88A-5 , converting it to an -A4 ; he called me and told me what he wanted to do . I asked him what his first impressions of the kit were. "Shit", he replied , "what about you?" "Exactly the same, mate ." His model looked brilliant, though .

The floor is the major internal error ; most of the rest is a bit vague but like you said , difficult to see . I haven't had a good look at the -A4 kit bit the -A5 that i built (converted to a C4, actually) was riddled with errors . I wouldn't buy another ICM 88 unless it was VERY cheap ; they just aren't as good as the old Dragon/Revell kits .

Hi Sir, best wishes ! So, does these paints behave like Mr Color ? Thanks !
@scalemodellerbyaccident86712 жыл бұрын
Hello Sir :) Mostly, they act similarly. You have to thin them down much more, you can paint them with a brush (for larger surfaces add a little tap water). Also, do not mix them with the thinner into an airbrush cup, because they stick to the needle cogginng the nozzle.

I recently just went "all in" with a purchase of an AK 3G set, several singles, and thinner. It has not gone well. Using AK 3G thinner (AK11500) seemed very much like my experience when accidentally thinning water-base acrylic with enamel/solvent paint thinner - didn't mix, clogs/glumps in cup, splatters and "spits worms". Tried it with multiple 3G paints with same result. I had acceptable results when I tried Vallejo thinner and also with a alcohol/water home-brew that works well with Vallejo and Testors MM...but still lot of tip drying/clogging. Added a drop of flow improver with moderately better results. You had good success with AK11500?
@scalemodellerbyaccident86712 жыл бұрын
Hi Steve :) I'm sorry about your bad experience. Well, it's very personal how you perceive various stuff. I struggled to get used to thinning them down, cleaning an airbrush, and lacking this perfect control of spraying as you have with lacquers. The time will show if they're good enough. In my opinion, the AK11500 is optimal for them. The thinning ratio should be at least 70% of the thinner but even 80% is comparable with the 1:1 ratio for Tamiya XFs to Mr. Hobbies H series. I also tried to mix them directly in an airbrush's cup with a brush or a backblast and it's a very bad idea - these paints are very thick so they wrap around the needle worsening the mixture flow significantly.

Thanks for your warm words. Well, I've painted maybe 6-7 Vallejo colors so far with a brush and an airbrush so I haven't much experience. Nevertheless, many guys use them, expecially for brush painting. Just look on youtube videos :) It means they must be satisfied. What's good with Vallejos is a very vast range of colours dedicated for armor models, figures, warhammer miniatures etc. For aircraft models... I would be cautious :) Good luck!
