My introduction to FF was around 2002. I was a young fresh-faced 18 year old who loved Pantera, Slipknot, Slayer, Metallica, Gojira, etc. Was in a band and, like a drug addict, always seeking faster and heavier. One night a co-worker of mine at my local shithole grocery store job asked if I wanted to sneak out to his car for some recreational "smoke" and break time and I said sure, why not. He pops in Digimortal and blew my mind. I had never heard anything like this. My first thought was what the hell, this can't be playable? Then a few months later I see Dino in a guitar world magazine and was like, well, I guess it is! Then I hear songs like Scumgrief and realized they were far far more than just another super technical metal band. They had shitloads of depth, soul, character. Something about that song touched me in a way like only 3, maybe 4 other songs have since I was a kid. That includes songs like Left Behind by Slipkknot, Dyers Eve by Metallica, This Love by Pantera, Etc.

Integrity? God Forbid? There was some pretty metallic victory records bands mid/late 90's. I just called it crossover metal core, OR metallic hardcore lol.... that was the big one. We called it metallic hardcore, then a decade later I heard "metalcore" and this whole scene popped off. My younger GF was into all the myspace bands, and I heard both WC and SS. Plus the warped tour comps. Everyone had those.... they were cheap and had a ton of bands. I remember very distinctly the first time I heard JFAC... I bought the second album after hearing a piece of a song at a girl's house, and that was it. I knew the music I was into was coming up from the underground in many different formulas. I think it's a good thing. I always tried not to be too much of a Fudd about it....no one wants to be that "back in my day" burn out geezer at the bar. I'm just glad hardcore and death metal are still going strong. In whatever form...Godspeed headbangers. Kill everything. .

Well ill be god damned. I checked them out, and I finally found a style of metal that is complete and utter hot super garbage. The music, singing, everything is so terrible. LMFAO. Ive always felt like this style got popular bc dudes could never come up with riffs that made sense hahaha its just so bad. fight me.
