I often survey sites and return for either morning light or the golden hour(s).. It seems to be the right formula to capture your vision and is part and parcel of the creative process. This is wonderful.

I am interested in Tannat. I first encountered it in Tarija, Bolivia some years ago in a landscape that looks like Texas. I can report a residential "vine yard" with some 6 vines of Tannat and a couple of other category that Tannat grows very well in Lubbock, Texas. It handled the big freeze this year with no problems. Tannat is known to be an aggressive canopy grower from my reading. I have one run of 13.5 feet this year from budding on March 23 from 2-year old wood. If nothing else, it has ornamental potential for the backyard. I started gallon-batch home wine making with it this fall. Between 2-year and 3-year planting combination, I got 2.5 lbs per plant of berries. Good luck John, I am very familiar with the Texas Hill Country.
