This is perfection race. When he says "He's moving like a tremendous machine" along with the crowd noise going up in decibel level, it's like a movie. If you don't get goosebumps, you have no emotions.

I think it’s awesome that 50 years later no horse has broken any of these records. Belmont will never be beaten in my lifetime.

Three days before this race I called CNN when John Campo was on and asked if he was worried that Summing could steal the race. "Never been done," he said, forgetting Bold Forbes had done it. Summing paid $17.00 but I didn't bet the race because I had won $310.00 the night before on the OTB late double at Yonkers.

Secretariat's Triple Crown was 5 weeks of sheer dominance. He didn't just win the Triple Crown. He dominated it.

this was supposed to be a match race between stable mates secretariat and riva ridge but then the luster came off it when big red lost the whitney at saratoga to Onion and riva lost an allowance race on grass. Thus they expanded the field to include Cougar II, Kennedy Road, Key to the Mint, Travers Stakes winner Annihilate ’em, and Onion. 2-5 was better than bank interest.

I can't believe he ran that fast with that much weight on his back. I wonder if even Secretariat would've had a chance against him.

How much I love this horse I am amazed how he just laid back, toyed with the others then poured it on when he was asked to...no disrespect on Winning Colors, she took the Derby, a notoriously hard race to navigate, it's to her credit and maturity she ran it so flawlessly. RiP Star and Winning Colors ♥ ❤

Oh how I loved Forego. Only Kelso, who saw me through my teens, is as dear. We have lost so much in losing the 2-mile JC Gold Cup. It was certainly the test of champions. The BC Classic is pale by comparison.

Just still amazed watching him take the lead. That just wasn't normal the way he made the turn. He should of been coasting, but he was accelerateing.

I feel so lucky to have a horse from his bloodline. Secretariat is in her fifth line, so he’s pretty far up there of course, but his personality really shines through in my girl. She was an amazing racer and I’m so glad I get to have her for the rest of her life.

Wow... I was actually AT this race! Had never found a replay of it til now. One thing I remember from when I was leaving the track... Some dude who had lost his money on Flying Paster was bashing his jockey for a "bad ride". Said he started his move too late. I was like.... "Dude, the Bid broke the world record, and the Paster almost tied it..." :)

Thanks for putting this video up... I watched nearly all of Big Red's races on TV, and there are KZbins of practically all of them, and I have watched them MANY times. But I am unsure if I have EVER found a replay of this Marlboro Cup until now!
