The front of the engine looks like a welders helmet. Very cool & menacing looking. Even though its for testing purposes only it is pretty badass looking

I grew up in Granite City, in one shot you can see the Steel MIll, at one time it was the 4th largest in the country and was started by the family that came up with Graniteware, the porcelain coated coffee pots, plates, cups saucers etc, they were successful enough that they decided to cut out the middle man so to speak and built their own mill to roll the coils for the die stamping operations. It went on to produce many many more steel products and helped both WWI and WWII victories. My father also worked for Illinois Central RR for 43 years starting in 59' working out of E St. Louis and the Madison/Venice yards until the Sauget yard was built.

It is so nice to see my hometown back in the day before I was born. I really wish that I would have seen what is now NS back when Wabash still owned to STL to Kansas City line. I grew up near that line and would have loved to see the Wabash moving at track speed.

I wished I lived in this era because the trains have a lot of color and actually stand out. Not saying any of the new railroad livery’s are bad but old liveries generally look better. And the E and F units would have look good in any livery.
