@@Lexemoz Not impressed with what I heard of its remixes thus far, especially the trailer remix. As a whole, I'm not terribly impressed with anything Retold has to show off thus far. And given MS' track record for how little they respect AoM, I don't feel like I need to give them any benefit of the doubt that'll be worth much.

2010: Summer Vacations. Every one is sleeping, but you woke up to beautiful rainy day around 7:00 AM on a fine saturday morning. You turn on your Pc and start age of mythology only to be greeted by a beautiful main menu music and later to come. Those were the days when homework and grades were the only thing we used to worry about.

LOME belongs to AOM community not to you So hopefully we will see LOME in retold ported by other person or group
@legendsofmiddle-earthmod11075 ай бұрын
lol yeah. Because the player base is so dedicated. If LOME was a community possession, someone else would have contributed to it over the years. LOME has been a solo endeavor for the last ~8 years, ain't nobody else touching this thing.

I'm calling it. They're going to ruin the composition of this in the Retold edition just like they did with AoE2 DE's, re-arranging notes unnecessarily. You're all going to be listening missing notes from this, or notes that aren't accurate.

Yup. You hit the nail on the head, my friend. All the homies hate DE versions of Ensemble games.
@damsen9786 ай бұрын
@@legendsofmiddle-earthmod1107The games are spectacular. I only meant the soundtrack. It's their biggest misstep. The rest is an upgrade outside of the lack of skeletons when units die.

Overall, Im glad that they havent totally gutted some of the designs, but I agree it seems like they took a lot of liberties with some of the units. Its "ok" I guess. But I honestly find the look of the original AOM to be just fine. It would be more welcome if a developer simply updated the netcode and left the game alone than to start adding a bunch of stuff haphazardly (Im looking squarely at Extended Edition) My hope is that if they do add new civs or units they think very carefully about it. But its microsoft, so I wouldn't hold my breath.
@legendsofmiddle-earthmod11077 ай бұрын
Yeah, at the end of the day, we already know what to expect. We can be certain when saying that MS isn't interested in reviving the cult classic, they're interested in profit. Should I be happy that it looks as "good" as it does? Yeah, probably; it could look worse. Then again, it couldn't possibly be more phoned in than the Chinese DLC. We also can be sure that it'll be milked as much as possible, I can guarantee new civs will be added on a whim. I get nervous when I see designed being re-riffed, there's a pessimistic gut feeling that they plan to do something nefarious, and they're showing us the mild redesigns first to warm us up to the idea that this "is just a modern version, for a modern audience". It's really just the disrespect for the franchise as a whole that burns me the most. Ensemble NEVER produced a failing game, and yet they got axed; now their old games are getting exhumed from the grave to be extracted for more money.
@ThatElephantSeal6 ай бұрын
Very true. Even AoE4, which on release I was surprised by its quality and relatively authentic portrayals of history, has kind of fallen into the same rut as the rest of these rereleases; after the layoffs at Relic they released "Sultans Ascend" which absolutely shattered the original feel of Age of Empires with its stupid "variant civs" and had that campaign with its obscenely biased narrative which comfortably fit in with the "Crusaders bad" mentality that "modern audiences" seem to like. Another game that I basically lost hope for. Or AoEIII with all the stupid name changes and even rewriting an entire campaign turning it from a relatively nuanced and interesting story to a "white man bad" story. At the end of the day Ill probably end up getting AOM Retold like the retard I am, but I'm very nervous about how they are going to handle this. I wouldn't be surprised if they scrapped Ensemble Studios in-game wiki and rewrote that as well to "reflect modern sentiments" or something. @@legendsofmiddle-earthmod1107

@@ThatElephantSeal I'm just exhausted of the being biased against for liking the things that I like. It's no longer out of touch boomer executives forcing the hands of the devs. It's now a horde of maladjusted millennials that are hellbent on forcing the square block into the round hole with their completely backwards views of, not only history, but of the game itself. Basically: These types of developers aren't interested in doing justice to a classic title, they're only interested in bending it until it's something that THEY like, your satisfaction is not even remotely considered. That being said -- it still hasn't released, but call me a conspiracy theorist for being born with just a little bit of pattern recognition. The only true step forward for folks like us who are loyal to these classics, are to make NEW classics ourselves, pure and untainted -- which is what I'm trying to do -- by moving on from modding into actual game development. I'll most likely be still keeping on eye on Retold, though, just because I'm a moth to flame.
