What you think about the mic cable quality compared to like to the normal high end cables? Thanks
@poseidonsoundz Жыл бұрын
So far no issue. I don’t really swap it out that often, it’s my main mic currently that works well on most vocals. I haven’t had any problems with electrical interference bleeding into the signal so no complaints.

@poseidonsoundz Жыл бұрын
What are your current monitors? I love my HS5's (my friend currently has mines since I'm not using them in my current set up). They are really detailed in the highs and upper mids. If you plan on mixing with HS5's I recommend running a sub for the low end, as the HS5's don't give an accurate enough representation of the lower and sub frequencies.

@@poseidonsoundz curious what do you usually do for the vocals with your mic gain setting wise ? I know it’s all situational but I’m curious also I’m recording guitars for two songs tomorrow I’ve used the great river before but sometimes I feel like im pushing the output more than I should when I should have the gain higher and the output lower any suggestions?
@poseidonsoundz2 жыл бұрын
@@domjoseph2007 @Dom Joseph That really depends on how your mic handels the gain. I was using a tlm 103 for a very long time as my main mic and I was able to drive gain a lot more(I believe around 35-40 for vocals ) using that mic as opposed to my Manley ref c that is very sensitive to driving the gain(I use the - 10db pad that comes on the mic to help bring down some of the gain before it hits my DAW). I would use my ears and the meters in the DAW. As long as it has the tone I'm going for and I'm not too hot or low on the DAW meters I'm fine.

How are you liking it on vocals?
@poseidonsoundz2 жыл бұрын
I love it. The mic took a little bit more time to balance and get use to structuring the gain in comparison to something like my Neumann. I had to learn to use the - 10db pad on the mic and use less gain on my preamp than I'm use to on other mics, it's just a "hot" mic in response to gain.
@joserivas-zx9re Жыл бұрын
You engage the -10db on the manley when tracking ?
@poseidonsoundz3 ай бұрын
Yes I do.

For anybody using an Apollo. The twins don’t have a true bypass for the internal preamp but on the 8 channel or 8p Apollo’s, you can go to settings and set any channel to bypass for true bypass, just not on the twins. Not sure about the newer x4’s but that was also a big reason why I got the 8p instead of the twin.
@chandeleerjet56372 жыл бұрын
Have you tried the Neve or the Bae compared to the Great River? I’m on the fence between these three for rap vocals.
@poseidonsoundz2 жыл бұрын
I have tried the neve 1073 and it sounds great depending on other components in the vocal chain. I had the option to go neve but I wanted to do something "different" than the industry standard in hopes of creating a unique vocal chain. But of course the 1073 is legendary.

Hi I still need your help understanding sorry- Are you choosing an AUX track to put your bus 7 on for your kick? Then put this bus 7 on your bass track is this how you creating side chain with pro q3? I never new how you choose on pro q3 at top left corner you picked input there to assign bus. I wished you would have shown you picking your bus track from the start and put either your kick or bass on this track then show how you added you buss on opposite track - I understand all about the ducking part - hoping you’ll explain in more depth detail here to me. Thank you
@poseidonsoundz2 жыл бұрын
I'm not using any AUX tracks. You simply put the dynamic EQ(Pro Q3) on the bass or 808 track. Find the frequency you want to duck and make your dynamic attenuation.Then choose any open bus as your key or sidechain input. Then on what ever track you want to trigger the EQ attenuation(the kick) you put a send on the same bus you chose for the key input or sidechain as the 808 or bass track.

Do I have to eq each channel separately or i can eq it in a group channel
@poseidonsoundz2 жыл бұрын
If you mean route the vocals to a vocal bus the eq them, then yes you can. But that's assuming you want them all eqed the same and all the levels are relatively the same. You may want to eq your doubles or adlibs(if you have them) different than your lead vocal.
