amazing chiptune im always suprised at the capabilities of the n163

Dang was this a furnace tracker tune? What chip did you use? I'm just new to it myself! This sounds dope as hell though EDIT: one of the other comments says it's N163 so I'll have to check that out later... reading the documentation it looks more complicated than the wavetable stuff on the Gameboy chip which is what I'm more used to. I don't really get the waveform load pos vs waveform pos stuff. Hopefully that isn't super necessary to understand in order to work with the chip lol

What is it with youtube recommending me the most random absolute hidden bangers of chiptune songs lately?? I swear, all i’m getting are less known masterpieces

You are not alone, the youtube recommendation algorithm literally inspired me to start making chiptune music, maybe it shouldn't control my life like that, but I'm not stopping now.

Adding onto my previous comment from 9 months ago. I've been doing some exploration on the S-SMP (super nes chip) and the more I looked at the BRR format, the more it started to sink in. The reason the SPC700 exists can be demonstrated using the N163 as a example: this is basically a software driven S-SMP with none of the bells and whistles. If the 6502 handled everything with that complex of a chip the data transfer would bog down literally everything. The two chips are *very* similar. In fact, I realized that using my existing N163 experiments, I could easily convert them to the BRR format and none of the quality would be lost. The fundamentals between the two are *very* similar, and I think the N163 sample tool can be repurposed to create BRR samples just without the filter bits. Of course, actual tools already exist (and have existed since 1989, that's why Kankichi-kun is a thing), so this is just another bit of low level information that in practice probably won't be useful but *might* be in regards to SDK-less programming.
