I went to an Urgent Care with one symptom -- a sore throat -- and asked for a flu and strep throat test. I was billed with the code G0383, "Type B Hospital Emergency Department Level 4." (Level 1 is least complex and Level 5 being most complex). When I asked why I was billed with the second-highest level of severity for emergency rooms, they said that performing TWO diagnostic tests (flu and strep) threw it into that category. I would appreciate anyone's throughts, comments or advice.

Hello - this is a hospital/facility fee and has nothing to do with the provider billing code

Pt came into ER but then left AMA without seeing the provider. The nurse saw patient and was under the care of the nurse(RN) for about 30 minutes- pt had vitals taken and labs drawn! Looking at billing 99281 but struggling to find concrete info on who to bill it to? Provider or Nurse?

One to screw in the lightbulb and the other to turn blue in the face because the patient doesn’t feel like getting another set of X-rays for a pulled ligament.

Thank you, Dr. Graham! I've been looking for more information on the 2023 Emergency Medicine Level of services. Information to help me prepare for my CEDC exam, that was a great video. I'm a Certified Coder and I enjoy coding for the ED. After watching your video, I'm confident with the tools and explanations you provided for each level and category. I'm able to review the MDM Level tools with a lot more clarity and understanding.

Hypothetical case - In the ED a patient came in with chest pain, they do an extensive a work up (high category for data) but the final diagnosis is muscular skeletal in nature. What would you select for the problem? Would you think that this was a threat to life???
@ubergraham Жыл бұрын
The final diagnosis is irrelevant. It depends entirely on what the physician thinks

Graham: Thanks for the video. I did want to ask what is the "Epic Tool" you referred to? Is it something the author of the note uses or is it used by whoever is going to do the coding/billing?

Apply to the Pfizer CV19 jab PLACEBO GROUP: 162/ 21,831 .0074 = .74% , so 99.26% didn’t contract COVID-19 even without treatment. VACCINATED GROUP: 8/ 21,831 .00037 = .037% ; The Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine reduces risk of getting COVID by ~ .703% (.74%-.037%), so for every 100 people ~.7 fewer will contract COVID-19 if vaccinated than if they did not. Therefore 142 patients need to be vaccinated for 1 patient to not contract COVID: 100/.703 or 1/.00703 = ~142 PLACEBO. PLACEBO GROUP : 9 with severe CV19 illness / 21,831 = .0004 = .04% ; VACCINATED GROUP: 1/21831 = .00005 = .005%; So a .035% reduction in severe illness if vaccinated. Therefore , the vaccine reduces risk of getting severe COVID-19 illness by .035%. 2857 patients need to be vaccinated for 1 patient to not contract a severe COVID-19 illness : 100/.035 or 1/.00035 www.pfizer.com/news/press-release/press-release-detail/pfizer-and-biontech-conclude-phase-3-study-covid-19-vaccine

You had a great vantage point! I'm the blond guy with the ponytail and the camera- I was hoping you got footage of me getting knocked on my butt- I think it happened at about 5:30. The girl who hit me was hoping I got an action shot, but unfortunately I was kinda distracted at the time :)
