I saw the Dennisons in (I think) 1964. They opened up a package tour at the Kelvin Hall in Glasgow. The star was a 16 years Lulu. Also on the bill were Peter Jay and the Jaywalkers and Bobby Shaftoe. The best act though was second bottom of the bill. A band called the High Numbers ie The Who. I have never forgotten how good they were that night.

Great reggae selecta 45's Versions I love ,em. The Alton Ellis Rock Steady track riddim was used in Bitty McLean - Walk Away From Love, probably of interest to soul fans From Love Was a Mr David Ruffin. Give it a whirl on youtube, Vinyl found on the Peckings label

Peter, tends to take a bit of hiss out a bit like turning the treble down, but I also wanted to see if there was any dirt on it, and didn't want to put anything with chemicals onto it...these acetates are notoriously dodgy to clean

I notice that your vast collection does not include Bob Marley & The Wailers 'Catch A Fire' album (!972) which was constructed in the image of a cigarette lighter. This one is certainly one of the rare commodity.

oh my, what a superb collection, thanks for letting us peep into the dj box pete, can i ask you if they were collected way back ,or did you have to pay top dollar, more recently, also what about a video on any lesser records you may have that deserve a listen,
@raresouluk
@raresouluk 10 жыл бұрын
Most were collected by my mate John, starting at Wigan circa 75/76, he managed to hang on to them for all that time though I used to DJ with them and supplied a lot of them, I got them to myself in the end but sold them in 2009.

Mr Smith, can you confirm that this only held 40 singles (I'd read somewhere 41 -- and even the PBS JLennon's Jukebox documentary site, www.pbs.org/wnet/gperf/shows/lennon/songlist.html , shows 41 [w/o A/B-side distinctions])? Thanks. --lawrence

Pete Smith Thank you for your response, Pete. Just today I got my EMI CD "John Lennon's Jukebox" with brief liner notes that read, "The jukebox contains a fascinating tracklist of 40 records". Yes, also inconclusive, but at least it's different than the confusing "41" I keep finding from official sources associated with the "John Lennon's Jukebox" project. Thanks again.

Did you know Dennis dell used to be a postman in Saffron Walden in Essex!Crap record, but nearly every other record in your box up `till then was BRILLIANT; why didn`t you play them? In fact apart from 2 or 3 pop things they were all great, play em, like in your other vids man.

Thats a great version of Better Use Your Head! NIce on the CBS issue anyway. Why didn't I play them, dunno, would have taken too long, I still don't know how to make the films shorter thats why I only play half the records on the other films. All the records in the above box now gone sadly.
