@bakerRebuilds3 ай бұрын
@kyledevore871 I'd do a compression test to gather more info. If it returns poor readings you may need new valves and valve seals which will require the valves being reseated. You could also disassemble to verify. Really depends on skill, money, time etc.

Then refill with appropriate Coolant. Hope this helps!

@welcome2darealr229 It's hard to say much without experiencing the vehicle myself. I'd do a compression and a leak down test. When they fixed your heads did they put in new valve seals? Replace all of them or just the ones on the bent valves? Could use a cheap borescope off Amazon to check piston tips and see if they're fine or somewhat deformed on the cylinders that bent valves. Depending on the shop they may have reused the head bolts which are supposed to be replaced each time. Are you getting any smoke out of the exhaust or it's normal?

@welcome2darealr229 Ah I see, my apologies. I'd get the heads redone, replacing the bent valves and all of the stem seals. Good opportunity to port and polish but not necessary. Like to see a video on installing valve stem seals plz the proper way. My gasket package came with valve stem seals and they look the same, how may i replace them. Kinda confused...
@bakerRebuilds3 ай бұрын
@bluefeatherlopez7 I don't have access to the Dodge Charger SXT V6 anymore. You'll need a spring compressor so you can remove the retainers and drop the valve out. Replace the seal, then put valve back in and compress the spring once more to replace the retainers. Try not to lose them and be sure to get them back in correctly. Multiple tools are available including vehicle specific and universal ones but if you research other spring compressings options you may have what you need already. You'll need to fully remove the head to do this and it's an opportune time for a port and polish if you so wish. Could also check for any bent valves since they'll all be out, keep them in the same spot. Hope this helps

A compression loss can indicate that however, it could also be several other things all of which I'm pretty sure require the head to be pulled in order to service. @bakerRebuilds5 ай бұрын
@MikeWolf-427 Unless you do gasket maker, I think it's with the windage tray regardless. I'd recommend upgrading the oil pump and/or at least trying to idle less. The position of the cam in relation to the heads on the gen 3 hemi struggles to properly oil the rollers at idle, which with enough wear leads to the "hemi tick" that's no good.

Going through right now and tearing things down and cleaning up stuff. Looks like I need to replace head gasket cause I saw milky stuff in the radiator hoses and where the water pump sits. I don't plan on doing piston rings (as LKQ said they tested for compression). Just wondering if there are any other ideas or tips you would say come to mind (not in the vids) when doing a refresh on this engine

Once it was running we had to sell the v6. Definitely sounds like you need a head gasket. Once the heads are off use a square or a straight edge to make sure the cylinder head and cylinder bore mating surfaces are still flat. I'd buy a gasket kit or the specific gaskets to replace the ones you can. (Intake manifold, injector o-rings, the aluminum peice the coolant hose attaches to, exhaust manifold etc.)
