Is this machine plastic or metal? I have a Juki TL 2010Q. It is steel through and through. I’m interested in the Rebel, but wonder if it’s plastic or steel?

Hi Sarah, does the stitch regulator work well? I've read a review that on the curves, the stitches are either too big or too small. The stitch regulator is the only reason I would consider this machine. I love doing the ruler work. Not many in-depth reviews online for FMQ on this machine. Appreciate your feedback.
@SewingbySarahTutorials26 күн бұрын
I think it takes practice. I'm using it in a sit down position not on a frame, so I think it is not as consistent in this position. It is still better than when I do it without the stitch regulator, but as you get to the edges of the quilt the stitches are not as regulated. I bought it for this feature as well, I think any other machine with that feature was 4x the price, so it's not as sophisticated as some of the other machines.

She literally said that she’s using a #9 stitch on her machine, but that a simple zigzag or many other stitches will work. Just make sure to test them with the hand wheel first to make sure they clear the center bar. Duh. Good grief, it was plain as day to anyone with two brain cells.

Does the machine have a full metal rotary hook? What is the throat space? What size bobbins does it take? Does the needle thread side to side or front to back?

I don’t think that is a ruler foot. It appears to be a closed toe foot. Ruler foot is higher

Thank you so much, for this demo. I've really been interested, in this machine. It is so loud. My almost deaf dog raised her head up, listening, and wasn't liking it, lol. Maybe their next model will be quieter. My Juki 2010Q is also a great machine. The throat is not as big, but it's manageable, and quiet!

what brand/model of sewing machine are you using in the video? Could this type of stitch and gadget be used to sew cotton jersey knit seams? I love making clothing from jersey knit but my sewing machine (EuroPro) has trouble with the overlock stitch and always dragging the fabric into the feed dog. There is no way to adjust the pressure of the presser foot for lighter fabrics on my machine.

I just bought it to work with jersey knits, I haven't used it yet but all the things I read about it say it is great. I got it for tshirts. Good luck!

put painters tape on the presser foot side that touches the fabric. the needle will go through the tape. the fabric will glide easily - works like a teflon foot but diy

@@SewingbySarahTutorialsI changed the thread too. I think it is a tension issue . The thread is shredding before it ever gets to the needle. Thank you for your reply. I look forward to more of your videos.

Hi Sarah, thank you so much for the demo. I have been wondering about it! It sounds terribly loud on the video, but that could be how you are set up for recording. What I hear in the video is too much noise for me! I love the idea of it and hope the next version will be for me. My HQ still works great though and will probably hold me until the end of my life, so a new machine will need to be spectacular!
@SewingbySarahTutorials7 ай бұрын
Glad it was helpful! Yes it is noisy, more so in free motion quilting mode than regular sewing. I will oil it also and see if that improves things as things loosen up I'm hoping it gets better. Just have to wear headphones and listen to music!

If you did that differently, finishing on the bottom of the rope, you would then just need to slide the ruler downward, no picking up the ruler foot or moving the needle to a new location. The ruler use is meant to be fluid.

Just saw your comment after watching this video. While I haven't used this foot (didn't know it was available until now), here's a suggestion for needle tension-- I tend to loosen it a bit for zig zag especially for wider stitches. (Do a few test runs on scrap). Example: if I was sewing at a tension of 4, I would lower it to 3.5 or 3 to see how it looked. Now you have to be very careful that the needle doesn't hit your foot, so I test the stitch width by carefully using the handwheel at first to make sure the needle clears it on both sides (with whatever stitch you choose). Also you may want to check that this foot is secured well with the screw - if it loosens off it may move enough to cause collision with your needle too. Hope this may help
