Five nuggets were found at Creswick between 1871 and 1875; four at the Berlin Diggings between 1870 and 1872; three at Bendigo between 1858 and 1875; three at Dunolly between 1869 and 1872; two at Ballarat in 1858; two at Maryborough (1873) and one each at Turton’s Creek (in South Gippsland, 1873), Smythesdale (not far from Ballarat, 1873), Upper Boggy Creek (modern Tinamba, 1873), and Buninyong (1875). Ten nuggets were found to contain gold of 22.2 carats or more, eight of 23 carats or more, and two of 23.3, in other words of exceptional purity and concentration.

I think i found out where you are mate Turtons Creek Rd turtons creek see a lot of gold was pulled out of there 60,000 ounces 5 gram nugget also was found there detecting. cheers guys

I got a block down that way. According to my research it had squatters all over it during the mini rush that happened down there over 100 years ago. The main creek they were in runs through the property. Always wondered what's in there? Having a proper crack at Easter when the Tigers settle down. Stay safe out there man.

G'day mate I live in south Gippsland and go out alot but don't go detecting more panning the rivers and get a bit of colour at times but detecting would be fun I think if I go it's more parks and beaches

I used to live on Fryers Road 40 years ago and ride my road registered trail bike all around that area and take my detector along in a rucksack. I did not buy a gold map of Fryerstown but just explored for diggings some in remote locations but never found any gold. It was mostly recreational riding. The best scenic tracks were on the other side of Vaughan Springs Road opposite Irishtown which led to a dam and large forested area towards Hepburn Springs.
