Seeing Jae Lee's art for the first time in Image back in the 90s was WILD!

Wow, that was inspiring.

that is so interesting that he pencils, inks over it, and then adds more pencil shading at the end. never seen that technique before.

Me and my mother ended up with alot of his original sketches, the house she was cleaning up belonged to him or his brother I can't remember but she found a tub of alot of original sketches including tarzan, Conan, some marvel, and some random sketches I can't name. Alot of them are signed :)

I wouldn‘t call him a „master“ though, otherwise every artist who is famous and in the industry for long wnough could be called that. Nowadays the words legend or master is thrown around wayyyyy to often… But he is of course very good, though I like his older style way more.

When did you get this done?

To draw fewer lines you have to really master the figure, which people who arent artists can rarely understand. The bounce or shape to those lines are precise and nuanced, indicating exaggerations in the form that you can only figure out by drawing anatomy over and over again. The best cartoonists use few lines, bc theyve drawn so many to get there.
