I can’t get over the fact that my uncle died in WW2 so that democracy could be preserved and all Americans in 2024 had to do to accomplish the same thing was to vote for it and they couldn’t do even that. It’s a sad and pathetic country that is now going to get it’s just desserts. Unfortunately, however, it’s going to make the whole world pay for it.

Another great show. I had so many questions, but I truly appreciate the connections that Anne Applebaum brings to the discussion on democracy. Perhaps, I can offer one insight. Donald Trump has dealt with "killers" before entering politics. His projects have often bumped up against underworld turf. He has learned not to cross them. This is connected to how he treats the powerful autocrats in the world who act like ruthless mob bosses. It isn't as much of a mystery as people suppose. He's scared of them and goes out of his way to "get along."

Agreed… we’re living through one of those synchronicities in time, where everything that came before will be forever altered. These synchronicities have happened from time to time in the history of mankind when human progress takes a giant leap forward. We aren’t going back. Ever.

My adult Daughter was living in DC on Jan6 2021. She carries the Nightmare, explaining that Her City was in full Military style lockdown for weeks. We feel the Day.. but DC looked like a War Zone for weeks. Fenced off areas, guarded by highly equipped Military troops. It left an even larger scar on her soul.
