Hawaii Kai has such beautiful, safe neighborhoods. I'm going to check out open houses there tomorrow, looks like a few 4 bedroom houses under $2M which seem like good values.

Hi Henry, that is correct. To be clear, that includes taxes and cleaning fees. Email me if you'd like to see the financials. In 2002, most months were between $5500-$6500. For 2023, I just have Jan - April financials, but in Jan in did over $8400 and in March over $7400. For Feb it did close to $5k and for first 3 weeks of April, it had earned about $4700.

Yes, very sad at what happened in Lāhainā - and very disappointed by the local, state and Federal gov't response and just shows the importance of ones ʻOhana. A tragedy and for all the locals who lost property and need financial support to rebuild, I hope the public and private sector provides all the funds to quickly rebuild at no cost to the victims. For this who lost loved ones, my heart goes out to them. But why give a thumbs down to people playing polo? Perhaps some or all of them have provided support to the victims - do you know? Seems unfair to quickly dismiss a group of people without even knowing who they are as individuals and perhaps they have done many positive things in their lives to help others. You're potentially missing out on knowing some wonderful people in your life by being so quick to judge.

Hi Henry - depends on management company. Currently management company charge 18%. Most full service vacation management companies charge 18-25%. However, I do know one company that charges 10%. I don't have income statements yet of this unit, but I'll email you income statements for a few other units in the building that show 2023 nightly rates ranging from approximately $115 - $135.

So you had 2 leaks and both were user error. First one, you didn’t check the clip properly and the second one you let it go and it hit the button and a clip came undone. Their housings are the best on the market. Who failed? The equipment or the user?

Hi Luke, perhaps you didn't watch the follow up video I made. I sent in the housing to Aquatech and they replaced the latch on the housing that I was having problems with and they acknowledged it was loose - I have that in writing from them. Does that answer your question? And thus far, my Salty housing has worked great. I've only used these two brands of housing, but based on experience, I have to say Salty's is the best.

What's the basic difference between a NUC vs a property that is qualified to do a short-term rental example ilikai? MLS® #: 202314973 NUC as long as I renew every year and my grandfather did where as the resort style short-term rentals you You have a risk of losing the ability to do STR?

Thanks for this review. I was looking for Aquatech housing for Sony A1. Can't believe @AquaTech_imagingsolutions wouldn't do the right thing. In the long run they are losing much more revenue in lost sales. I will spread the word about @AquaTech_imagingsolutions and continue my search for a company that actually stands behind its customers.

my Shady condo association is saying no "transient accommodation". no renting for less than 180 days!!... it is a bait and switch. or a highjacking by evil homeowners who are trying to control their neighbor'shomeowner's rights.

yes quite a few condo associations on O'ahu do not want to allow short term rentals for their building. When you bought your unit, if the realtor or the seller told you that you can legally do nightly rentals (and you have it in writing) and this information turned out to be incorrect, I recommend you get legal advice.

@@enjoylivinginhawaii my community CCR rules regarding occupancy were changed from 30 day minimum to 180 days.. which is way beyond reasonable .. When I bought the place , it was in black and white in print 30 days minimum …but the board changed it to 180 days. Seems unconstitutional. Regarding the new law 41 ( not voted in by residents ) The Honolulu mayor and city counsel are being sued by the realtors board for trying to increase the limit from 30 to 90 days rental period minimum for ANY property on the island . Federal Judge Watson has blocked the new law 41 and will allow the lawsuit to play out in court. The Bay Area is in even worse shape and NIMBY’s are everywhere. Oahu is much better at providing more housing.. but it does not have to do this by infringing upon property owners rights.

I have had two reflex housings for my 5D Mark IV cameras and now have two edge housings for the R6. The only time I ever had an issue was early on I did not screw the port on tight enough and water got in there but I noticed it quickly as the port will fog up when there is a leak. I caught it because I am constantly checking my housing in the water every second. I also don't use a board. I just swim with fins and a gath helmet and impact vest. Boards get in the way and it's just another thing to hit the housing when duck diving under the barrel or it gets in the way of everyone surfing. I have had zero problems with mine for years. I love those housings. I also used the CMT housings for a while but getting parts and service became an issue but they were so light and awesome. The edge housing latches are epic! Super secure. Perhaps you should borrow one and try it out.

Hello my friend, I am writing to you from Costa Rica. 100% lover of the sea and photography. Maybe it's a little late for my comment, but! Why didn't you think of LUMIX cameras? and Salty Housing manufacture for lumix, they have gh4 and gh5, perhaps today they have been updated. I consider that lumix cameras are one step ahead of Sony and any other. I use SPL HOUSING, soon to change, spl has remained in time, with the use of controls and evolve in everything. Remember that aquatech is made of ABS plastic and Satl and Spl in soft aluminum, they are much more resistant, and the front part makes them much safer than aquatech latches. It is better to take a while to assemble the equipment, than place 4 hooks and that's it. I agree with you in your explanation. Regards!!

So to be clear. If your property is in Waikiki and not between Kuhio ave and Kalakaua ave, and not in Ko’olina neighborhood your rental is illegal if you’re renting under 30 days. This law is being effective for years now but somehow renters where still renting illegally because of corruption. Now bill 41 was pass a year ago, 90 days minimum to rent, this owners had an entire year to do the right thing and rent out for long term or sale, but instead they pay off some people in power and reduced temporarily 90 days to 30. Still, anything outside the resort area in Waikiki and Ko’olina renting under 30 days is being illegal for a while and now is getting enforced starting this week. Hawaii have low housing inventory and locals are suffering because not affordable housing. This is why bill 41 is so important for many local families struggling with high rents and high mortgage prices. Hawaii have a housing problem, short rentals are a luxury in this moment.
