Lefty Frizzell daughter gave this unrecorded song of her dad's while he was preparing for his role as Mac Sledge

No one sings this better than Spanish tenor Placido 8:46 Domingo. Somehow even though he kills her I blame her. She wasn’t exactly faithful. Doesn’t mean she should deserve to die but this is Opera.

A massive fan of Joan here, and from Coventry, England, the birth place of this lullaby. It’s an honour to have her sing m/reference my little town :)

One of my all time favortie arias. I never heard it sung so slowly, but lo-and-behold. the fabric of notes rollsout exquisitely. This is the way Sills wanted to do it and frankly, she's the only one who could do it justice at this tempo---extraordinary breath control. But the greater surprise is that Korngold's music never collapses: The center not only holds, Rudel takes it to another realm. Brava and bravo. Peerless.:

Sempre mi meraviglia la dizione perfetta e chiara di Jussi. Anche quando canta quest' aria in Siciliano.

So what happened to his crushed hip and twice broken bones? I wanna know and also why was she laying in the moonlight? Didn’t the Lions take their kill into a den somewhere for later feeding? Inquiring minds wanna know.

The most beautiful chorus in Fanciulla. Tozzi sings it very poignantly. " will my dog remember me? And momma will cry so much, thinking I will never return."

I was present in London when De Los Angeles was interviewed for Capital Radio. The interview in-evidently turned to her singing with Bjorling. She said that she had never heard anything so beautiful in her life. When she first heard his voice from outside the rehearsal room at the old Met, she started to cry. She also said that when recording Butterfly, Bjorling was not well and after the recording was quite ill. It wasn't so long after that he died. Incidentally, Sherill Milnes was in the audience.

I just love this song. everything about it. Jimmy Webb’s composition and arrangement and lovely piano contribution. And Brian Wilson singing hauntingly beautiful background vocals to the track. . And then there’s Linda who sings this masterpiece of a song with such clarity of conviction and the sweet vulnerability of young love.. that may have endured forever, they came pretty close and she’ll miss him the most of everything they had and did together. 😢

For the funeral of my father, five years ago, I choose „Danny Boy“, „Auld Lang Syne“ & this one here… Very bad mistake. Whenever I hear any version of these beautiful songs since then, I start to cry & can not stand them anymore - what a pity.

Crazy time now. Looking at comments, some may no longer be connected. Saw them at a bar built into Fenway park called Kings - something circa late 60s. Great show. RIP all three. And thank you. or, Thanks Yous as said in Boston.

Lillian Bos Ross wrote the lyrics. She lived in Big Sur and wrote a trilogy about life there. She wrote this as a poem that was much longer than this here. She died in 1959.

That’s funny as a kid growing up, listening to my dad’s records in the 80s believe it or not. I always assumed it was a bad translation of an old Spanish folk tune thanks for the input who knew?

For example, “my heart which was down at my feet, jumped up to my throat in a hurry” --there are so many better ways to say that in English, but maybe not if they’re trying to hold through to an original Spanish version that’s the main reason I thought that even as a kid, I was kind of a internal smart ass
