Instead, you should navigate to a Supercharger during long trips so your EV’s battery can precondition for faster charging. Preconditioning ensures your battery is at the optimal temperature to charge efficiently, letting you quickly get enough charge to reach the next stop along your route. Your Cybertruck’s navigation system will automatically calculate charging stops based on your current state of charge (SoC) and precondition the battery as you approach a charger. Most stops will only take about 10 minutes every 200+ miles-perfect for a quick bathroom break or snack. The system will notify you when you have enough charge to continue your trip, so you can unplug and go. If you plug in at a Supercharger without navigating to it, your battery won’t precondition, and charging will be slower. For anything longer than a quick top-up, you should rely on an L2 wall charger at home, charging overnight for a full battery by morning. I always remind people considering an EV: if you don’t have a reliable way to charge at home, think twice. Relying solely on public fast chargers will mean spending hours each week waiting, which defeats the convenience of owning an EV.
