Thank you for the lovely videos! And 3 bucks. wow! Would you consider doing a video on managing multiple goats? training? I've recently tripled the size of my herd (i had 5) and I'm struggling with all kinds of behavior issues. from the new ones being scared of me, I cant lead them or get close enough to even clip on a lead, to the more tame ones now rushing the gate at milking time and just general chaos. It also does not help that all my goats are large breeds and strong as trucks. 3 of the scared ones don't know what grain is so I can't even bribe them. lol

Can't wait for the cost of nofence or an open source alternative comes around. could be huge for the goat clearing market.

my catahoula is on her final stages of life, she is 15 and she is still spunky AF.. all catahoulas are long lived that I have met.. such a good breed of dog.. unique and bad ass.. to smart for humans own good hahah.. do yalls spin a lot when they play? mine do what I call a jump bark spin.. they jump, spin and bark in this one move... laaawl, bonnie blue when she was young was a ninja.. We lived in an area with 1 free roam herd of cattle..when they would come down our road.. there was this one fence post that bonnie blue would NOT let that herd of cows go past.. she would stand out there and stand the herd down, dodge any attempts to charge her.. till the herd turned around.. I have a million stories of her doing some crazy ninja shit in her life lol. The certainly are NOT a first dog person dog.

Your videos have been very helpful. I recently inherited some property and am trying to not let my anxiety delay my progress. Your videos make keeping goats or sheep more approachable. A lot of people strangely gatekeep homesteading knowledge like you need to be born into it or trained on a farm for a decade first, you are very down to earth and feel like a real person doing her best. Thank you again.

I’m kicking around the idea of getting sheep and/or goats but just don’t know if I should. I only want them to roam my property to help keep things from growing out of hand. I have both woods and larger grass areas across 12 acres.
@YouCanFarm3 күн бұрын
They might require more health maintenance they you are looking to invest, but either or a mix of the two would do a good job of managing your land.

I've had goats and sheep, and i like sheep better personally. They were always bullies or nuisances. We then got some baby hair sheep, sweetest things. Although our goats (both young and older) were bullying them. So now we're trying to move to just sheep
@YouCanFarm2 күн бұрын
We are moving towards just goats because we find them more personable and hardier, but I will be sad to see the sheep go. Just not enough resources for both right now.

If you are going to do this for meat birds, do not put the roost or the runners in the middle. This will make it easier to move with out catching a birds leg. Thanks for watching.

Aw my heart goes out to you. I just came across your videos and I'm really enjoying them. I'm so sorry you lost one but you can't blame yourself. I know that feeling all too well. Its obvious you love your animals and do all you can for them. It's impossible to know when we need to be there and when we don't but you are important to your herd and you have to take care of yourself too. Even if you had been there the outcome could have been the same. Although we don't understand it, everything happens for a reason. That's just my opinion but it's how I get through the rough parts. It's still hard but it helps me. I wish you nothing but the best and look forward to catching up with your farm videos. You have beautiful goats!

Didn’t like you pulling the newborns though the dirt. Also, you need s sucky to clean out their mucus. AND, where are your gloves for cleanliness?
@YouCanFarm2 күн бұрын
I assume you know nothing about raising goats or farming in general. It's dangerous to try to pick newborns up since they are very slippery, so sliding them is much safer. They are on bedding, not dirt. I do use a suction device when necessary, I just don't show it in every video. Gloves are idiotic - babies are born covered in shit, piss, amniotic fluid and blood. What are the gloves keeping clean, my hands??? They just dull feeling and pull hair. I wash my hands frequently, but that doesn't make the video because it's not very entertaining viewing.

I know you morn the loss but also use the opportunity to store the extra colostrum for future kids that may be stressed right after birth. This is how we carry on and what we do for the animals in our care. You are truly a responsible and loving person especially when it comes to your animals. Big virtual hug to you, Julie. 🤗
