With Lupa Masa?
@ChristianBassettNature21 күн бұрын
@@pretloukik no, I stayed at poring springs. I have stayed at Lupe Masa once before but I really disliked the place. The whole place is infested with leeches. The food provided was awful. A lot of the forest has been cut down in the area and the only good paths to the base of Kinabalu are completely overgrown. The only thing I like was the river. I used that as a bath as the shower room was so bad there!

I will forever remember unwittingly coming upon one of these as a teenager living in Singapore in the late 1970s, while walking my dog in a jungle area near Butik Batok (which wasn't remotely as built-up then as it is now). We were happily walking along until we froze (the dog as well as me), unnerved by a sudden noise and the clear movement of undergrowth up a slope to our right. The movement of dense leaves and branches steadily approached us - whatever it was was clearly unfazed by our presence - until the biggest reptile I had ever seen in my life (as long as I was tall) swiftly emerged from the undergrowth directly on to the narrow path a few metres ahead, facing us. Terrified, we both turned and bolted. It might have been the only time in my life I seem to have run faster than a dog. I never returned to that spot. The lizard looked just like this - many thanks for the video and rekindled memory! Despite this encounter, I enjoyed a very happy childhood in Singapore, one of the most remarkable countries in the world and an education all in itself.
