Personally this is what I hope they do for each encore level. Limbo- I really like your idea but I hope they reveal what’s behind the curtain and the more technical parts that keep hell running smoothly Lust-I think it’d be cool if the city was completely abandoned and empty, the lamppost being broken or dimly lit and having more calculated ambushes instead of hordes chasing V1, like the city only has a few survivors in a mad max sorta way Gluttony-I’m a fan of the rotten flesh concept and having the stage rot away while your fighting through it making you dodge falling debris could be fun and open new paths/ways to fight through encounters and as if the enemies are also fighting the layer while also fighting you Heresy-Honestly I’d be content with the whole level being just like when you fishing a level in hotline Miami. Making the player and V1 walk through the level after it’s been cleared with bodies laid out and blood still staining the walls could be a horrifying sight. And instead of fighting Gabriel one last time it’s just you mercy killing him instead, it could be a final view of hell “giving up” and not even trying to fight anymore.

Hear me out: what if 1-E was a dark level, pitch black, and you had to use the flashlight from 7-3 to navigate the level. There would be occasional holes in the screens so you would have to take a new route through the level. It would give the level the opposite effect of its regular counterpart, being dark and scary instead of bright and calming. That is what "An absence" could have been teasing (or it could have been 0-E's second song but idk).

My theory for the encore levels of ultrakill I imagine these parts are like the deepest parts of the layer you can end up like you go past the gate of hell and just keep going through the prelude you will just eventually end up inside of the extremely deep parts of it like I really just imagine every layer is endless dreamlike stuff that has life but extremely deep down into the layer without exiting the layer

cant wait for this to be outdated in 2 years when the update comes

my assumption is that the encores will have mostly monochrome pallets accented with the opposite of the main colour. we've seen this with the prelude Encore, monochrome with a light-ish blue colour, said blue is an opposite of the orange of stock prelude. so i can assume the secondary colours are red for limbo (fits with the fact lava seemed to be seeping in) yellow for lust (odd at first but a yellow sky can be caused by pollution and bad air quality which makes sense considering the city is abandoned) gluttony is interesting because it would either be green, or somewhere between green and yellow, which both make sense because they are either like rot for the former and the latter can look disgusting. greed would be purple (the night sky is purple so it could make sense) wrath would be orange (i'm not sure about this one) heresy would be... green? yeah my prediction fizzles away in quality as it goes on. violence, is violence.

Lust could become like... dusted, eroded partialy by the winds that should have been in the first place if it wasn't for minos Edit: it will look almost like a common human city in the final war before the earthmovers appeared

Nah lust would have hurricanes and storms pushing you around cuz the buildings protecting it got destroyed

Since prelude is frozen like treachery presumably would, maybe levels take on the traits of layers perpendicular to them limbo has whatever fraud will have lust becomes monochrome gluttony has more man made structures (bone cathedral maybe? or grilled meat like that other comment suggests) greed is soggy or overtaken by a sandstorm wrath becomes a sea of mud heresy overgrows with meat violence is more industrial and lit up

Ultrakill, gd, trailmakers, hollow knight, tf2 (RIP), everyone gets a 2.2

The garden of forking paths in 7-E has probably fallen into ruin due to the machines ravaging throughout it for an exit similar to what the Minotaur did. The walls are no longer white instead a shade of red, the player escapes out of the maze through a giant hole created by an earthmover. The battlefield has little to no structures left, the trenches and subway overrun by corpses and roots of blood trees, the blood river has dried up, the earthmovers that were once in the background have now fallen and the player uses their corpses as stepping stones to reach the forest. The suicide forest has overgrown and almost every tree has blossomed, their roots overlap each other with corpses of machines trapped in between. The place where 7-3 took has been decimated and nothing remains but a crater and an earthmover's leg sticking out of it. The desert has been covered with roots but sand still shows. The final arena is beside the crater where the earthmover in 7-4 blew up and the exit door is blocked by roots which belongs to a gigantic blood tree that v1 must destroy. After fighting a couple waves of enemies five bombs similar to the one used in 7-2 land and blow up the tree and the roots allowing the player to leave the level. (Never let me cook again bruh)

I imagine the encore level names will just be the opposite of the sins they represent like lust being chastity and gluttony being temperance

It would be cool if they added the excavator as an enemy on the same level as gutter men and gutter tanks.

the punishment for lust is wind. with the architecture stopping, what's to stop the wind from picking up? carrying the entire level high into the sky, structural beams jutting out at insane angles... yeah.

I think it would be cool if gluttony just looked malnourished or something.

I have some ideas for Encore levels myself too. Limbo: All the screens are shut off and broken (as said in the video), but we also get to see what's behind those screens. I thought about something industrial behind them. Lust: The city is completely destroyed, and the winds like from Dante's inferno are back, blowing the rubble around. Maybe Minos' corpse is part of the level, now just a skeleton. Gluttony: Looks like a rotting corpse, with green/grey flesh, and just bones. Basically looks like you're traversing a skeleton with some flesh left. Also from Dante's inferno, it's raining constantly. Greed: Like in the video, is night/has no sun. Also the buildings could be completely covered in sand. So it basically looks like a ruins/wasteland. Wrath: Kinda like the video, the ocean has gone back to being the normal river of Styx. Boats are scattered throughout, and the sky is clear with no rain. Heresy: The city is covered in ash, there's no fire burning anymore. The lava became obsidian coating the buildings. Could also have slight purple color. Violence: The labyrinth is destroyed, with trees growing everywhere. The sky filled with ash from the war. Due to the trees and bloodshed, the layer is probably completely painted red.
