Did your machine come with oil already in it? Mine did and it was half full on the indicator so I thought it already had oil on it.
@franksfamily
@franksfamily 4 ай бұрын
It had just traces of oil. The factory probably put oil in it and started it to test things. Then drained the oil before shipping

Hello friend, is your truck still making the sound? I have something similar with mine and they told me that it is normal that it is part of the emission when we turn on gas, that is why it does not turn on all the time

And here I thought it was going to be the "gas tank is too full" known problem with the Simpson pressure washers. Yea, it's call a low oil/anti idiot sensor. My wife's niece told me how they had gotten a new snowblower years ago, and the engine seized within minutes of them using it. Took it back & DEMANDED a new snowblower. Yeah, they didn't put any oil into it, and the dealer ended up having to eat the cost of that destroyed engine. Simpson, and other companies, are giving you the oil to put into it, AND putting stickers all over it telling you to add oil before you try to start it. Yet some people just can't RTFM, so they put a low oil sensor in it so you don't immediately turn it into a boat anchor. BTW, starting that up without having a pressurized water hose connected, with the pressure hose hooked up, AND having all the air taken out of the system (takes 30 whole seconds to purge it) will eat up your pump for lunch. You probably took a year off that pump's lifespan by running it like that for a few seconds. Wonder if he even put the pump oil breather in before starting it? Guess they'll have to start putting another idiot sensor in the pump now.

You can actually lift the truck using GM approved parts. GM sells the Trailboss suspension as a kit. Comes with all the right parts to lift the truck 2" without sacrificing longevity or durability.

Haha, I did the same thing! 15 years as an aircraft mechanic... I definitely feel some shame, i did check the oil, and it did look like there was some on the lower end of the dip stick. I was planning on fill up before operation, just want to test it out initially. Thanks a lot!!

I didn't spend 80k. I paid 50k. This was back in 2021. It was my first diesel and a new engine. After 20k miles or so the knocking really decreased and I don't notice it. It was probably two things: 1) I was not accustomed to diesel sounds 2) An engine break in period. I am at 60k miles now, no complaints.

From what i have seen researching these since i pretty much have the same truck that you have in a different color and mine does have the factory installed nerf bars with a step but anyways is that the long crank issue signifies from eveything i have seen and read somwhere between 60K and 100K you will have a cam position sensor failure, yes the update will fix or patch the issue until then, hopefully if you still have the truck when that happens you are still inside your powertrain warranty which should be 5 year 100K mile from the factory

What ever happened with the knocking on light acceleration ?
@franksfamily
@franksfamily Жыл бұрын
It gradually went away. One barely educated guess I have is that it was related to the cylinders and pistons somehow. After the engine "broke in" it went away. I also add a fuel additive. I notice when I don't add it the slight knocking seems to happen depending on the gas station I use. Another guess is that I just got accustomed to the noise and don't notice it anymore.

Why the expense of a stainless tank?
@franksfamily
@franksfamily Жыл бұрын
Stainless tanks, if constructed properly, are much less expensive than ridgid or baldder/membrane Poly tanks or fiberglass tanks or steel tanks and cleaner for drinking water storage and require less maintenance. It is a question of total cost of ownership over the life of the tank, time value of money, etc.. If proper maintenance this stainless tank will last 100-200 years. Not bad for a $12.5k investment. Any other tank, at best, would be 15-20 years. Now consider inflation, buying power of the dollar, etc. in 20 years a new poly tank will cost double what it is today. So if I went with a poly tank I would have spent ~$4k including shipping plus another $8k in 20 years to replace it. That is $12k. So I break even with a stainless tank after just 20 years.
@butopiatoo
@butopiatoo Жыл бұрын
@@franksfamily interesting, maybe i could downsize it to make it more affordable. Or maybe find some used brewery/winery stainless that would serve the same purpose. THANKS! Fixing to do a small building like what you did, would live to see how you supported that roof slab pour.

@@butopiatoo Dude, if you could find a used brew tank you are golden. Excellent idea. That sound is called diesel clatter it's much worse on older diesels. What you have to know is gas engines use spark plugs to ignite combustion. Diesel does not have spark plugs they ignite diesel under compression with much higher compression pistons so the sound is much different. Hope this helps 🤠

if you are going to do any sort of siding like hardy board or vinyl or aluminum plank, you need to sheath an ICF building first with OSB or a similar product. Good work so far.

Im going to be doing one in Oregon. They require a strip under the siding for moisture weeping as code now. I like the idea of stucco but my follow on project is going to require traditional siding, so I’ll go with Hardi on this one as well.

@bradkvanbek7148
@bradkvanbek7148 Жыл бұрын
@@justinfranks8222 You should rasp or sand the EPS even if you don't have paint, so you probably didn't add much work for yourself. Carefully pressure wash after rasping, immediately before basecoat and mesh. We have found some yellowing oxidation of the EPS helps when applying synthetic stucco. We can skip rasping and carefully pressure wash and the surface EPS is opened up some to allow the basecoat and mesh to adhere.

In a diesel you need to drive atleast 35 miles without stops or you're only damaging your diesel. Whoever told you 100 + miles a MONTH is full of shit. It's a constant driving mileage that matters. Also people need to do some homework on d.e.f. it does go bad, open containers with fluid in them should be thrown out in 24 hours. Sun damages def even in sealed containers and theirs so much more.. i Just watched Imfscrewd channel and his 2021 duramax 3.0l chevy knock left him with a blown motor.
