oh, Lord, this was making me so anxious being in that tight of a space. I need to crawl up in my attic space to install some insulation and it's this tight. I'm so afraid my fat butt will get stuck up there, it's giving me major anxiety.

If I'm understanding this correctly- you are blocking off cold air that gets vaccumed into the insulated attic that moves warm air out of the peak vent?

Hi. I am in the process of getting one of my attics ready for blow-in and I came across this exact scenario at the end gable wall. I recently replaced the roof so it's now vented. That level has always been the coldest and I'm determined to remedy that. But in the process of adding baffles I noticed the gap where the attic floor doesn't meet the gable wall. It drops down a couple of feet and I can see the top of the interior layer of bricks. (the house is a 1961 split level with a brick base then siding. I'm inclined to add blocks or foam board as you show here, seal the gaps and continue with the blow-in. But I want to make sure there's no danger of creating any issues for that wall. (I'm not planning to fill the wall with blow-in or anything like that. I think that's where the issues might occur.) Any advice on this? Is my logic sound?

@jje9845 ай бұрын
@@andreycham4797 Pretty easily too. I can feel a wind coming from my baseboard when the bathroom fans are on and I think it's coming down from the top plate, through the wall, and out the baseboard. I'm not looking forward to getting in the attic (it has blown in insulation) but I need to because that warm air is condensing when it hits the cool slab and causing some mildew smells.

Late… I’m not a professional so take it at face value’ I’ve always used duct foil tape the stuff you use on foam board seems / metal ducts It’s a shiny silver foil looking tale in the hvac Dept.

So happy to hear this. My work loves using your Insulation. Its the best and makes installing much more easy and most importantly fast. Being a piece worker I need fast. I remember for the past couple years shasta, california plant production has been a bit low because of the smoke and fires. This will help with a steady supply all year we hope :D

Great highlight on this important air sealing area - folks don't focus on this enough. Use caulk/sealant, not spray foam, which cracks over time.

Can you used it between wood and hardboard foam? Thinking of a Huberwood Zip R system
@scottchamberlin583 жыл бұрын
I would say that this is inferior to foam spray insulation in a few ways: 1. you can apply foam spray faster and without getting fiberglass all over your men and in their lungs. 2. You will always have lots of floating fiberglass particles in the attic space. Causing Dust and a dirty space above the ceiling. 3. you can get spray foam installed for $2/sq ft now. Knauf R-38 cost about $1.5 per sq. ft before installation. What do you really save?

Where does the flap get stapled to on a truss? I see everyone all over the place some say bottom, some say the side of the chord. I’ve read inspectors say it’s against code to do it to the side cause it creates a void for fire to run. Any help is greatly appreciated.
@mmac40473 жыл бұрын
So your example is flawed, your using a more viscous blue sealant, on the top of a vertical opening. But hay science and physics may not be in your history of education. Since heat rises, and moisture is carried in this hot air, and where much of the damage in homes especially in roof cavities simulated use in that condition would be likely more valuable.
@ImDembe3 жыл бұрын
This wont be a problem unless you cover large areas with sealant, if you just cover openings moisture can travel easy.
@frankly26772 жыл бұрын
Seal tite vent right. I like to control the way my house breathes, i dont like my insulation acting as lungs. Moisture build up is from bad ventilation and oversized Hvac sizing. No dehumidifiers and no energy recovery ventilators.

If the product is supposed to be for air sealing, why are you testing it as a construction adhesive? I would be more convinced if you compared how much Ecoseal and caulk stop air flow.
