Amazing! I had the sound turned way up for this one! It's awesome when the proper turn exit strategy is to squeeze the power on until the tires start spinning, counter steer, and hold it until you're flat on the floor!

Makes we wish I was still racing! Perfect heel & toe blipping the throttle on downshifts, something that you just don’t hear very often now. Did that when I raced at Kyalami F1 circuit in the ‘70s, and have always done it driving my road cars. It makes downshifts so smooth as you can ‘dump’ the clutch without the read or front locking up momentarily. I cringe hearing downshifts not using this technique anymore.

Gorgeous! Makes it look like it's trapped on a go-kart track - it wants to be free! Lucky guy . I'm close to Road Atlanta, so have been going to vintage racing specifically to watch Group Seven cars since '82 during college. I was 6-8 years old, and only sixty miles away when they were really there. Couple years to retirement, and I'm going to scratch-build an M8-B tribute car. Here in the US, in a small town in GA, it's easily insured and tagged - not really interested in racing it, other than legal top-speed events. Slowly building my shop towards that day; Bridgeport and a lathe and every type of welder (not that they had many welds, other than subframes and suspension and roll hoops!); big air system, large powder-coating oven; working on larger sheet-forming equipment in the next year or so. I mean, it's '60s technology - perfect for a home-build a half-century later!

M8s have to be the bargain of historic racing cars. They sell for around $500,000 US I think this one is currently for sale at $580,000 AU or something. Considering people are paying 1.2 million for historic Aussie race sedans M8 prices are amazing. Surely a much better investment.
@HarriJones2 жыл бұрын
They sure are amazing cars mate! I've driven plenty of expensive machines and nothing quite comes close to this
@chasermalloy74062 жыл бұрын
@@HarriJones Sorry Henri, I hadn't actually realized it was yourself who loaded this video. I wouldn't have referred to the sale or the price if I had. I do stand by my assertion though that M8s are desperately undervalued when compared to other cars on offer which they are at least the equal of and mostly the significantly better of. Again not my business, but I think it is the wrong time to let it go if you can possibly hold it. The Solar productions 917K for example which I was pretty sure was the car Jerry Seinfeld bought for $2.7 million or so 8 or 10 years ago sold for $14 million US in 2017 I think. Canam 917s are way over that. I'm sure it's not too far off that people are going to wake up to M8s. That's my rant over. I had quite a nice collection of old mainly Aussie cars from F5000, formula pacific to group C, group A touring cars, V8 supercars, sports cars and significant Sports sedans. Various problems intervened including health issues. The GFC also contributed to my having to dispose of most of them. I don't cry about it but it does send a shiver occasionally when I look at their current values ! An example is a sports sedan I had for 20 years. Older readers will remember it as the Craven Mild sponsored Monaro sports sedan which was effectively Pete Geoghegan's last car. I sold it about 15 years ago and it came up for auction last week. Best guess was that it would bring around 1.2 million but interest ran out at $550,000. I'm sure that it will sell at significantly more when the dust settles, but if I had the chance which do you think I would rather have between this and your M8 ? Sorry for writing you a short story .... I'm nuts about this stuff !!! cheers.

Why do they weld in that role bar right in front of his vision?!
@dons19322 жыл бұрын
It's called a "Larry Bar", coined by another driver called Larry Perkins. It's designed to stop wheels and other debris (when coming loose in a crash) from smashing through the windscreen. A dislodged wheel and tyre smashed a front screen at Bathurst one year.
