Based on the "Thunder"salt name, the car is probably a Thunderbolt actual...or clone. The 1964 was a beautiful body style. This car is gorgeous.

I liked the airport track in Half Moon Bay, but Fremont was always fun to run.

When Stone and Woods first started the had a (I believe a 49 Cad, running in D Gas) Doug had a 41 or so Chevy Coup, running in C Gas. It was only after that, that the three got together to run the Willy's. At that time I ran a 50 Ford in C Gas. Doug always trophied, so I set my car up as a C Altered Car. That class was easy to trophy in. Lyons in the mid-late 50's

They had a little trick, one of many, they used. Instead of a posi or locked rear end, they ran a limited slip. Kept the car from veering off the track, and running straight as an arrow

Limited slip and posi-traction are the same thing just different trademarks and maybe some locking bias differences, a Detroit Locker had much more aggressive locking and was used for drag racing....

When I was in high school 1960-65 to have known that Mr. Stone and Mr. Woods were Black Men who got no recognition from NHRA, all the drag racing and hotrod magazines, but their driver Mr. Cook got all the photos and fame as he was White. That was my favorite drag car as it was of millions of kids who loved drag racing back in the day! I cried a few years ago when finding out that the owners and mechanics were Black Men of one of the most famous drag cars of all time! Stone, Woods & Cook AA/G FOREVER Y’ALL!!!♥️🏁🏆👌🏿

This car was the only photo I had in my bedroom as a kid. That was over 50 years ago and it is still one of the baddest-ass cars of all time. I remember a childhood friend calling into question the masculinity of any kid who didn't know who Stone, Woods & Cook were. Another favorite car is the '34 coupe of Mooneyham & Sharp (the 554 car). I remember that car running on nitro at Fremont...one of the best sounding cars of the day.
