@DavidDavis What this whole Horizon Scandal shows is that the corporate "profit" model is always bad for consumers, and the model is even worse when central government acts like absentee landlords. The arrogant, entitled, privileged, out-of-touch culture of government and its quangos, and its corporate bedfellows causes rampant misery across the whole of society. Politicians especially, but also all the monolithic, tax avoiding, tax evading corporations are widely hated. Also hated are the mainstream media, the majority of institutions and the ddliberately hollowed out public services. Government has relatively few legitimate roles: Prevent foreign armies from invading, help the poor and sick, enable everyone to prosper and be healthy. You politicians are worse than useless at all of the above, yet you draw funds from the system out of all proportion to what you contribute. We utterlu detest you and you wonder why?

I think there is a misapprehension about power and authority that has grown up over time; being in a position of power, in any setting, doesn't simply mean that you are able to assert authority over others. It also means that you are responsible when things go wrong. Even if you had nothing personally or directly to do with the thing that's gone wrong - you are in the top job, so you must take responsibility. We very rarely see that aspect of power being enacted, and its absence is poisonous to our public life.

We must never forget that David Davis went on the record on numerous (often recorded) occasions telling the British public Brexit negotiations would be “very simple” and beneficial to all. Given his own, proven, track record with lies he should not have any role in public life IMO.

Were vitness statements to the enquiry under oath? Vennels went to lead an NHS Trust after her £5.1 million Post Office job. The NHS also took in Charles Massey, the Civil Service's chief advisor to the Post Office, now CEO GMC. He has since lost the trust of the medical profession and been caught being dishonest in giving evidence to the Parliamentary Health committee.
