I thought I was the only one who got that 58 pair at box 7. Someone else found a different triple and knew where the 5's go.

This sudoku had a unique rectangle situation. Loved it. It's actually at 14:29. Notice how at boxes 2 and 8 you have 469, 49, 49 and 49. You can reduce 49 from 469 and you'll end up with a 6.

Yea I did talk about this in another video, and I'd prefer to use other methods to solve Sudoku puzzles. I'll solve for a digit based on uniqueness only if I get very stuck (I don't think I saw this unique rectangle anyway XD) Actually I just noticed, 6 is forced into that cell regardlessly because of the '6's in column 5 (block 8) and row 3 (block 3)

I don’t see how the 579 triple on the bottom is correct. In square 7 row 9 colons 1&2 are both 4’s.

at 5:26 how do you find 6
@karsonnnpuzzles
@karsonnnpuzzles 5 ай бұрын
5:00 In row 4, the digit '5' cannot go into the left-most cell, so it must go into either R4C7 or R4C9. And because '5' is guaranteed to be placed into one of those two cells, no other cells in that block can contain '5'. Now look at column 8, '5' is still a missing digit. It sees '5' at R8C8 and cannot go into R5C8 & R6C8 as proven, so '5' is forced into R2C8 for that column. 5:20 After '5' occupied that cell, I can immediately force '6' into R6C8 as it is still missing from column 8 (since R5C8 & R8C8 see another '6') Hope this explanation helps! Feel free to ask anything else~ [R] = Row / [C] = Column

Row 2 column 1 can contain 3 or 4. So I don't know why we can say row 2 has a triplet, why can we ignore that cell ? Thanks!
@Mowie666
@Mowie666 7 ай бұрын
I got it ! Row 2 column 1 can't be a 4 because 4 has to go in column 3. Row 2 column 1 can't be a 3 because 3 has to go in row 2 column 4 or 5. That is the thought process right?!
@karsonnnpuzzles
@karsonnnpuzzles 7 ай бұрын
Since the three open cells (row 2, columns 3, 4, 5) can ONLY contain the three digits (2, 3, 4), those three cells form a triplet and eliminate 2, 3, 4 from all other open cells in the same row. Another way to think about it is that I only marked down 2, 3, 4 in those three cells, so the missing digits of row 2 (1, 5, 6, 8) can only go into the other four open cells, eliminating 2, 3, 4 from R2C1. If you can't process or still don't understand the logic behind, you may try substituting 3 or 4 into R2C1 and see what happens, the result: one cell in row 2 would end up being empty & one of the digits cannot be placed. You may view the concept from different angles, but nevertheless, hope the explanation helps :)

For an added challenge try to solve the NYT hard Sudokus without any notation. You basically just do what you do but you use your short term memory. This is well suited for anyone who's already mastered the basics and who wishes to finish using basic logical reasoning

hey, could you comment while doing the sudoku one day? i get stuck in the middle of the hard one from the times and it does not matter how much i google techniques i find it hard to finish those, especially the weekend ones. (sorry for bad english)
@karsonnnpuzzles
@karsonnnpuzzles Жыл бұрын
Actually I only record videos without commentary on weekends, so there are clearer explanations in the videos on weekdays. If you get stuck in any NYT Sudoku puzzles, feel free to comment what you don't understand and ask me to explain in detail. It's completely fine to struggle. Just reach out, I'm always happy to reply you :) You may comment something like: At 21:53, why is "9" forced in R8C4? Just include: [ Time of video / Digit or Block or Cell (row/column) / (what you don't understand) ] (Your English isn't bad at all, keep going and don't mind too much about it!)

I don't really comment even in videos without commentary, as I use my cursor to highlight cells, in order to indicate which part I'm focusing on or where you should look at. Sometimes it gets a bit confusing without explanation, so it's alright to point out where you can't follow :)

At approximately 19:54, you determined that column 4, row 2 can't be a nine. How did you conclude that? Seems to me, C2 and 3 in R1 can be nines, therefore making C2 and 3 in R3 NOT the only nines in that cube, and allowing C4 R2 to potentially be a nine. Did you get lucky with your assumption?
@karsonnnpuzzles
@karsonnnpuzzles Жыл бұрын
I understand your thoughts, But if you look at block 1, C2R1 & C3R1 are the only two cells where the digits 2 and 4 can go in, so that forms a 2/4 pair and none other digits can be placed in those two cells. That forces 9 in R2 for block 1 and eliminates 9 in C4R2. Hope you understand now :)
