Up to 1990, the Wmata tracks used to end right under that signal.

Goodness that’s a nice horn. I’ve seen trains on Tatamy Road once or twice but haven’t yet gotten a good quality video of one passing by there. If this video were filmed today, then there would be construction cones and warehouses everywhere as far as the eye can see. The area has become very industrialized. Unfortunately, that growth has skipped the Cement Secondary as all of the warehouses only have truck bays and not loading bays for the trains. Less train traffic, more truck traffic. Thanks for sharing.

This video also has a lot of historical context. As I’ve mentioned, the area around Tatamy Road has seen a warehouse boom. Back when this was filmed, however, the warehouses were just starting to be built and most of the roads were narrow country roads. Tatamy Road went from a two lane country road to a 4 lane truck arterial road. In the second shot at Green Street, you change the direction of the camera to perpendicularly face the train. In the background you can see a Citgo. That shut down a few years ago. It changed hands numerous times and an electric billboard was installed a few years ago. Now, it is a tire repair shop. Nothing lasts long in that lot and I wouldn’t be surprised if it has changed hands again by the time that you the reader is reading this comment.

I love how every engineer has a unique whistle pattern they use, all while doing the regulation honks. You could say each one is personalized.

That's an amazing RS3L, but this locomotive is SD40E 6335, and it has an even better horn, which is a beautiful K5LA

Corman always keeps his locomotives looking so nice. Is there still as much coal traffic on this line as 9 years ago? Nice to see so much tonnage.
