I just had a revelation… The notes Link plays on the pan flute I have actually heard long before this game was even released. I first heard the tune from within the Pokémon 2000 movie! Look up the theme for Lugia! The five notes Link plays are the exact same as the tune from the movie!

You know, come to think of it, this is not the final boss's theme. This is the protagonists theme, as it's based off the song that the Link plays. It's easy to think of it as the Malladus' theme but it makes me feel good that the hero has his theme for this fight

God I come back to this every now and then and find myself admiring the tricks they use in the second half of this piece to make it sound like a train in motion. One thing Nintendo always gets right is the soundtrack, and I wish more people had played this masterpiece of a game, even if just so they could have heard this OST.

I played Spirit Tracks when all the Zelda fans around me, like my older brother who beat Phantom Hourglass, said the train was stupid. The game was a blast for me and I liked it far more than PH myself. When I finally reached this end however, it was amazing! Not only was the music great, with a beautiful leitmotif for Full Steam Ahead, but it's Link and Zelda fighting side-by-side, with this great role-reversal of Zelda being the less physically able one as she's been in the Phantoms until now, and Link as the bigger and more combat ready distraction as he's normally been the weaker one who sneaks behind enemies and exploits weaknesses. Even having them share the single health pool was great showing they work as one. Each one taking up a screen and the intensity rising as the fight plays out all for the final blow where you see Zelda running over when she sees Link struggling to help him deliver the final blow. Without a doubt, Zelda in Spirit Tracks is the best companion in the series and is not just relegated to Link's guide, or assistant, but a true partner who's had his back every step of the way, all the way to that finishing blow. Definitely a step up from Ocarina's finale. She definitely made her grandma Tetra proud there. Definitely best handheld Zelda (not counting Breath of the Wild).

This game is 12 years old today, and I don't believe we've had a game with an OST as amazing as this. Some pieces may have been better in newer games, sure, but the OST overall being so good and fitting??? Especially with the final boss theme mixing in the main theme of the game AND overworld theme? Please, Nintendo, give us a way to play this legally again outside of the Wii U VC.

something i love to think about is how the director for the music from botw, manaka kataoka, only worked on one zelda game before that (as far as i know). this one. she's an absolute legend. when the overworld theme kicks in i cant help but tear up- this track is so fucking good. this whole game is so good.

This was my first contact with the Zelda franchise back when I was just around 8 years old, and when I reached this part after spending countless hours on this game I swear starting this section hit me like a truck. Not only that, 10 years later now that I've completed many other Zelda games (and my personal favorites being this one and Twilight Princess), each time I remember this game I get reminded of this song in particular and I get really emotional really fast, and when 1:25 reaches I start sobbing like crazy. This game is probably one of the dearest things I hold from my childhood, and I literally can't recommend enough this game for anyone interested in playing it. This song also may be one of (if not) the most underrated songs in the whole franchise. There's so much emotion dumped at you at once it's simply beautiful.
@kevmadueke56713 жыл бұрын
I wholeheartedly agree with you, this song and game is so nostalgic for me I can’t even begin to explain how it makes me feel. This game and Phantom Hourglass were my first two Zelda games and I still treasure them to this day.

I couldn't agree with everything you said more, Spirit Tracks was the first game I ever got 100% on and I loved every moment of. The only two things I will say I very slightly disagree with is instead of Twilight Princess being one of my favorites, it would have to be Skyward Sword and instead of 1:25 making me sob, it's 2:41 purely from the feeling of absolute power to take on anything.
