So I’m going through 45s tonight and there it is - the B side of “Warm Up To Me Baby” is “I Trusted You” by Jimmy Bowen with The Rhythm Orchids from 1957. I thought of this before I played it and then fell over. This is what Andy improvised.

Used to watch all the Lola Heatherton specials. Christmas, New Years, Osmonds. They were always spectacular, the music, the dancing, the costume changes.

Ironic Canned Heat worked with the Chipmunks considering "On the Road Again" and "In the Country" (two Canned Heat songs) sounded like Kermit the Frog was on lead vocals

This was so good. It didn't take away from the film, it showed how much went into it.

I grew up in this era, and my this was my mother's "scene". June Carter was such a perfect performer. She knew when to "turn it on" and when to "tone it down". Permitting the others to step up and be "up front", and when they were done, she came back in on cue. This is a well known and prolific template, used by the most successful combos/bands throughout the past 100 years. She was a classic before her time, and we are blessed to have her performances preserved. It is no wonder that Johnny Cash was smitten by her. As were a great many men.

Wikipedia states Sellers was unhappy with this ending, and that he felt it cost him the Oscar...

I don't blame him. First time I saw the ending, I thought the same thing. The ending shot casts such a haunting spell on you and leaves you sorta speechless and lost in dreamy thought, and then BAM immediately you're yanked out of it by bloopers. It was a dumb decision by Ashby. He really should have let that moment hang more instead of abruptly cutting to bloopers.

She treated Vivian Cash horribly, humiliated her. I don't blame her for the home-wrecking, because that was Johnny's doing, though June didn't stop it, but I do blame her for having no respect for the mother of HIS and VIVIAN'S children. In my eyes, this "sweet, lovely, country girl" is a nasty disgusting pig with lipstick.

Wow, an original 1958 pressing on Mart Records, with the original cover. I'm still trying to get my hands on one. Columbia Records quickly picked this up for national distribution and doused it in an echo chamber, and that echo's been on every copy since then. This sounds so much better, despite the surface noise. Narration at the beginning is by George Donald "Don" McGraw, who wrote the poem and owned the "recording studio", which was a room in the back of his record store in downtown Salem, VA. There is, by the way, a Little Cindy album ...
