And this is why I work in 1/200 scale 😂! God video but I would go mad working that small.

Finally! A ship-relatrd channel I love to watch and listen - but I can't. Because the audio quality is so poor! Please get a proper mike that picks up what you're saying, even when you turn away. Otherwise - wonderful channel! Guchi

Impressive but the scale makes the PE ridiculously small and hard to work with. I would have to go with somthing larger

Old video but still very useful! If there is a very long but relatively straight section of railing, such as along the main deck of the ship, I assume you still want to break that up and do smaller sections at a time?

The boat you ve mentioned that is not present during Midway, will it be just the boat or that includes the whole structure that hauls it down? The frame around the boat I mean.

Does anyone model Fletcher-class destroyers in other navies' service in the 1960s-1990s? HNS Velos is a famous Fletcher class destroyer, with an interesting role in the history of democracy in modern Greece. Did the ROC Navy Fletcher's see near-action in any of the Taiwan straight crises? Argentina's Fletcher class unit were too old for the 1982 South Atlantic War, but did participate in the 1962 "quarantine" [i.e., blockade] of Cuba during the Cuban Missile Crisis. Plenty of interesting scenes to model there...

Drill bits and a sponge buffing stick make a perfect PE roller.

Revell made a USS Enterprise CV6 many years ago, I think in the 50's or 60's. I am not certain how accurate it was, but it was about the same scale (1/700 or similar). I had it but is now somewhere in my mother's house, and I assemble it in the 70's :)

What are these dowels? If i use the Google Translation it tells me that these are the things you put into a drilled whole in a wall to secure screws. But those dowels are made of plastic, not metal.

Thanks for the good advice! I do a lot of what you do, I use bottle caps instead of an ashtray for the glue, and I do use the cut off pins. The piece of foam is a great Idea I hadn't thought of, I'll have to get some!

I have the 1/350 minicraft titanic that came with photo etched peices and I've been attempting to attach the railings for 3 days now. Every time I walk out of the room they fall off. I haven't made any progress and I'm this close to not adding railings at all

This is a now ancient kit released many years ago by Skywave/Pit Road, it's not a Dragon original kit. It's also been boxed up and sold by Revell (German Revell). Dragon updated it with some new parts. A lot of the parts are clunky compared to up to date kits. The huge flaw in this kit is that, the part that fills the hull gap is hugely thick and give the model an armour belt much thicker than Yamato's would be in this scale, it also goes almost to the stern, which is very wrong. Fix that and with some decent aftermarket details (like AA guns, etch etc) and it's the basis of a good model

Thanks for this. Really useful comparison. For me, the shell plating kills the Academy kit. Wondering now about either cross kitting, or getting the Rainbow set to fit the Revell kit.
