A lovely walk down 'memory lane', thank you.. In 1959 I worked at The Old Mill in Salisbury doing some building maintenance. I had the privilege of going anywhere and looking at anything. It was an education.

Any advice for bleeding the fuel system? I've been trying for five days now and it's like nailing my head to a plank but less productive.

Just renewed it. Bloody silly place to put one. The real problem is I just got the fuel injector refurbished and getting fuel to pump through it is a royal pain in the neck. Anyway, good luck with your projects.@@repsid

I've saw BOC live at last at Sweden Rock Festival 2023, they gave the best live show from all the shows that i saw in 4 days and i saw 22 live shows, Richie Castellano gave the best guitar solo in the whole festival, the show was fantastic exactly as i was expected, i've waited 47 years to see BOC live, it was a long wait but it was worthwhile, BOC are legends, they are true professionals on stage, number two after BOC were Deep Purple with their best live show ever and i already saw them a few times, thanks for sharing.

What a Gem, I am about to embark on the same project, although mine needs a lot less work, just a clean up and service. How did you find fitting the hydraulic pump drive belt? Radiator and fan removed but I have no room between the pulley and the axle support casting to get the old one out let alone the new one in?
@repsid Жыл бұрын
Good luck with yours, enjoy it. I have to confess, it was my brother that fitted the pump drive belt but I don't remember it being that bad. I think we did it in part 3 of this series of videos, if memory serves correctly the pump can be moved to tension the belt?

Great video of the mill. Thanks for sharing. I was an American serviceman, and 16 years ago, my family and I lived at the Mill House that is adjacent to the mill. It was a lovely place to live, and it felt great to live in a part of English history. A quick little story; my wife used to say that she believed our home was haunted. She would be there all day while I was working and she'd experience things and tell me about it when I got home. One night, we both woke up to a loud noise and then heard footsteps coming up the stairs toward our bedroom. She said, "See, I told you I wasn't crazy. Go see what it is!" After looking at her with a very strange look and thinking that this might not be such a great idea, I got up to investigate, but nothing was there. I became a believer due to that very real experience though. I told my landlord about it, and he said that other tenants had similar stories. He then told me of a family that lived there hundreds of years ago that died there in their sleep because of asphyxiation when the chimney did not vent the smoke properly. It always made us wonder if it was the ghost of one of those poor folks who passed away.

It is a lovely windmill. I would definitely look into giving it a visit. At the start you said 1 of 5 open trestle post mills. I thought there was 7 open trestle post mills in total. - Nutley mill - Great Chishill mill - Bourn mill - Chinnor mill - Bloxham Grove mill - Chillenden mill - Great Gransenden mill
@repsid3 жыл бұрын
You're right, I'd forgotten Bloxham Grove but never really thought of it as a proper windmill. Chinnor is open trestle at present but had a roundhouse in its working days and I would imagine will have again when restoration is complete.
@robertjohn6233 жыл бұрын
Bloxham Grove mill is only ready a 1/3 model mill. and Chinnor mill is a postmill corrently without its round house.

I visit the Melin Llynon Windmill on the 14 of July 2021 (2 days ago) and I didn't realise that they were letting people in so I went in side and it was amazing. You were allowed on all three floors but unfortunately you were not allowed in the cap. I saw the three milestones on the second floor. And the roundhouses beside it were also open unfortunately it wasn't turning due to wet rot I was told about on site. Hopefully they will be doing tours around the mill at Heage soon as well.
