What a special place! Love the back part by kayak or ski. Saw some otters playing and sliding down the hill onto the ice once, and that was one of the greatest moments with wildlife ever!🌲🌲🌲🐾

Me and my grandfather went hiking from are cabin through a large marsh area and came close to chorus lake but we came up short of are goal. We ended up finding an old latter and a collapsed pile of wood with rusty nails in them which my grandpa thought might be from the logging days of Ely. It’s awesome to see that someone found the lake after so many years.

Thanks for a great video showing some of the Greenwood Fire area. I like that it was slow moving to provide a good opportunity to study it more thoroughly. It was very interesting to see this right after the presentation to the Tuesday Group in Ely by Lee Frelich, the Director of the University of Minnesota Center for Forest Ecology. He discussed forest fire behavior and tree mortality and explained how trees burn and how some near the heat of the fire just get scorched, while others escape unharmed. With a better understanding gained from his presentation, I could clearly see lots of examples of the various degrees of damage caused by different fire intensities.

Thank you for the nice comment! Lee Frelich's presentations are very informative about fire ecology and fire adapted ecosystems.

Wow. It must be so hard to see your forest like that. The shots through the trees were very cool though.

It was one of my favorite pine stands. I spent a lot of time working in it and I'm bummed to see all the dead trees. I'm hoping some trees will survive. Only time will tell.

I know right! I'm being interviewed by a 4-H group and they wanted to know about what I do. I figured the easiest way was to show them so I created this video for them.
