i still have mine. Fastest thing i've *ever* owned. This year had a faulty fuel gage that BMW dropped the ball on, and they won't fix it after so many times. It's broken 3 times already. The first time left me stranded. Massive disappointment with regard to the gage. i won't buy another BMW because of the way they handled the fuel gage issue. What else could they possibly mishandle? Makes me wonder. Anyway, now i have to use one of the tripometers when i ride, which takes away from the enjoyment of riding sometimes. The bike is great for touring, and can carry a lot. It basically has the same motor as the K1200S, another very fast BMW.

I want to get this, but I'm wondering if there's room for the K&N Oil Filter which has a tightening nut on the end of the filter; is the skid plate too close to the filter for this or would it work?

Mate - I love your "crane arrangement" to work on the bike. I have a similar thing but I made a lifting frame to suspend the bike from the central frame bolts ----but it doesn't work well, the bike hangs nearly vertical. How did you sling yours? top triple clamp and back wheel?

Great Video and really helpful! I'm about to buy a new engine guard for my 1200 GSA LC. Yours looks really strong and pretty. Furthermore the price is cheaper compared to the Touratech's X Large one. I just have 3 questions : 1. I've already installed an extender for the front fender (from Wunderlich). Do you know if this is compatible with your skid plate or is there a chance it will rub against the fender extender? 2. The two front supporting bolts look fairly small & thin... is there a chance that if an obstacle is hit, they will break off & cause the skid plate to either hit the engine or drag on the ground? 3. Do I have to remove the springs every time I change oils? Thanks for your video again!!!

Thanks for the video, Cedric! Can you tell us what all the features are? I notice that it attaches to the frame and not the engine, which is great. Is that hole for doing an oil change without removing the plate? Anything else? Merci

+XL Adventure Motorcycle Rider Hi :) Well , this skidplate is cnc milled with 4 mm aluminium sheet , quality 5754h111. The edges are bevolved and they look a way better than our competitors who are using lasers to cut. The other thing as you noticed is that the skidplate is not in contact with the engine , we made two strong stainless steel brackets of 6 mm tick for the front mounting points , they fit on the frame , and for the rear fixation we also made it in steel zinced of 5 mm and we mount it on the frame on the central stand holes , no needs to explain how strong is this skidplate ;) The hole is to drain oil yes , but we usualy recomand to our customers to remove the skidplate , it's cleaner. The black version of this skidplate is now available and looks awsome too. You can purchase in USA on www.acdracing.us and in the rest of the world on www.acdracing.com Joint us on FACEBOOK on our ACD RACING PARTS page !!! Best regards and enjoy riding :)

I like the way this mounts and the protection it offers over the stator and clutch cover. On your Ebay it looks like you now have quick release bolts where it mounts to the center stand?
@RonnieMX11 жыл бұрын
Also $435 is high for a skid plate price point just from a market standpoint. I think $300 ($299) they will fly off of the shelves. Your product has tremendous potential, branding is great, good logo and good quality. You just have to evaluate it a bit more. Keep up the good work.

I think that most people will place their bike on the center stand to change the oil. If you have to remove the center stand bolts to remove the skid-plate, this poses a problem in the garage and more so on the trail where the center stand is your main lifting device for any trailside repair. I think a revision to the rear bracket is in order. It would be better if the small screws were some form of quick release mechanism leaving the bracket in place.
